Byrdir Cottage Reviews

Amazing cottage in amazing surroundings. Julia was very helpful from the moment of booking. I cannot fault the whole experience... so much so this was my 3rd stay and im back again at the end of february. Thank you!!
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location, very peaceful and quiet .
Byrdir cottage is a wonderful, warm, comfortable holiday cottage. The house was clean and very homely. The beds were comfortable which allowed a good nights sleep and a totally relaxing stay. The kitchen is small and very well equipped and there is the additional utility room if more space is required. The additional games barn with table tennis, table football and pool table gave us many hours of fun and laughter! The cottage is well positioned to allow you to explore wales, it is set in a rural setting but has easy access to large main roads for easy transport. Byrdir cottage is a fabulous holiday cottage, we 4adults and 2 dogs have had a brilliant week and we wouldnt hesitate to return here again in the future.
Cottage had nearly everything to make for a perfect holidayjust one thing would have made it perfect. A blind at bathroom window!!! A small thing but the feeling of privacy is important even if it is only sheep out there. Surroundings amazingpeaceful & quiet..games room an added bonus.. perfect for all ages. Ben..owners son very helpful & friendly & quickly came when we had a problem with key for games room. Plenty to see & do in local area especially if you like walking.
Absolutely amazing place loved our time there. In my opinion I dont think the photos do it justice. Its so much better than the photos. Love the rustic feel of the place. Totally wowed with it and its tranquility.
Beautiful cottage well equipped and home from home facilities. The games room has everything you need and we used it everyday. The views are spectacular in very peaceful surroundings which was just what we needed. All that was missing for us was a hot tub!! If your not used to the countryside just watch out for the flies may benefit from flyscreens on the doors and windows.
Great house , so well equipped, wonderful surroundings. We loved it
Gareth
We found Byrdir Cottage delightful both on first sight and throughout our short 2night stay views from the cottage are lovely and from several of the bedrooms quite stunning the accommodation is spacious, homely and comfortable and the facilities in no way lacking. The aspect of the cottage is very open providing a welcome breeze during the warm sunny days we were there. The beds were comfy and all of our party of 7 adults reported restful nights. The small but perfectly adequate kitchen, dining area and lounge are open plan and there are 2 log burners here as well as a 3rd in the detached games room and plenty of seating throughout. There was a good supply of logs.
Lovely property, plenty big enough for 2 families 8 of us in total. The games room was a huge hit with the children. Kitchen had everything we needed, there was plenty of board games and a lovely outdoor space. Would definitely return, weve stayed in many holiday cottages and this one is a favourite!
We had the most fantastic week at this property. Facilities were fabulous, the views outstanding and to top it all the weather was incredible. We will definitely be returning.
Nakita
Our stay at Byrdir was amazing. We will definitely be returning. The property was spacious and had everything we required. The games barn was a hit with our children and allowed more space. We mostly stayed at the property enjoying the fabulous scenery and the little lambs in the fields next to us. The homemade cake left to welcome us was a lovely touch. Our dogs enjoyed the freedom of the garden and looking at the sheep lambs next door. Note garden not fully enclosed and single track access neither will hinder our return but as dog owners this is something others will want to know.
Amanda
Beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful setting with everything we needed. Will definitely be booking this cottage again.
Great property with all you need for a family get away, location is perfect for a quiet break whilst being close to amenities and days out.
A fantastic property with great facilities, like a home from home. Comfortable beds and sofas. Beautiful location with fabulous views. The games room was very good with things to keep everyone amused. We also really enjoyed the log burners. I would recommend this cottage with no hesitation.
This is the second time we've booked here, we loved it that much. Again we were not disappointed, it's an absolutely beautiful cottage and in a perfect location. You won't run out of things to do, we could of happily stayed in the cottage the whole time but there are endless amounts of things you can do in near by locations. It's a beautiful part of the country. The owners are incredibly thoughtful and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. Again we will definitely return. We would recommend here to anybody.
Davina
Love this place and will definitely be returning again. We have already stayed here three times
Cassandra
We loved our stay at Byrdir Cottage. It was just what we needed after the chaos of Christmas. Beautiful, secluded location yet not too far away from the stunning Elan Valley and Rhayader pubs. We had a BBQ on New Year's Eve and saw amazing stars, including the aurora borealis. Our dogs enjoyed exploring the garden and going on local walks. Thank you to the hosts!
Very friendly and good and clean place and nice to have plenty of parking and space
Stephen
Brilliant property. Extremely quiet dwelling. Everything needed was provided and more. Ideal for dog owners. Didnt use the games room area. As was there just for a peaceful time with mother and my brother and our dog to escape fireworks. Loved it and will definitely return.
Excellent property. Well equipped and very clean. Peaceful and tranquil. Owners very helpful. Lovley surroundings and the games room a great addition. Would definitely visit again.
Richard
Lovely property with amazing views. The owners had thought of everything to make our stay perfect. The games room was really fun to use and I Mrs Barton played pool for the first time. The homemade cake was a thoughtful touch and very tasty. We hated leaving but had a fantastic time creating lots of memories. Thankyou
Byrdir Cottage is fantastic. Beautiful and peaceful location. Cottage had everything we needed and the home made cake on arrival was much appreciated and delicious! Games barn was loved by the teenagers. 1010 hope to make a return visit soon
Lovely property, plenty of space for our extended family and the dogs. Huge gardens to explore. Close to lovely places to visit. Owners very friendly and helpful. Games room is fabulous. Log fires very cosy. Shop just down the road and bigger supermarket a little further. Had Tesco delivery with no problems. Definitely recommend
Nicer in reality than on the website. The view all around amazing. Fantastic games room and really dog friendly.
Christopher
Stunning cottage, one of the best we've stayed in. Everything was spotlessly clean and very practical. Set in beautiful surrounding, very rural yet only about 10 mins to shops, supermarkets etc. The games room is fantastic and your never short of something to do. Visits to see Elan Valley and the red kite viewing are both essential! We'll definitely be back!
Antony
This is a wonderful property set in a peaceful location full of wildlife. We had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of red kites, as well as geese, foxes, horses, rabbits, and other birds. The property and its surrounding area are huge. We had our dog with us, and he enjoyed the fields around the back and sides of the cottage, along with the large, enclosed garden. Inside the property, there is lots of space, and the sofas and lounge are very comfortable with a huge TV. The bedrooms and beds are also really cosy. The kitchen is wellequipped and modern, and there are two fridges and a large freezer. We also loved using the games room in the separate building. We were able to order a Tesco delivery we met the driver at the end of the drive way with no issues. Julia is a lovely host who popped up to say hello. Were likely to return to this property its one of the best weve been to.
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Gorgeously decorated and extremely comfortable
Tamzin
Had a lovely week at Byrdir. Very nicely maintained and clean. The views are wonderful and the we saw so many different birds from red kites to a bull finch landing in the garden. The younger members loved the games room which is warm and comfortable. The owners responded very quickly when the strong winds bought down a small tree in the lane to the house. I got the impression any issues would be dealt with that quickly and efficiently. This is a quiet and remote location with lots of walks for the dog. Recommend a visit, the homemade cake was a yummy cherry on the top.
We absolutely loved our stay, we expected it to just be a base to do some exploring with the bonus of the games room but instead found a home from home. The cottage was homely, super comfy and clean. We spent a lot of time there just quality family time away from busy life! Parking was perfect, 3 cars parked without issue and space for more. Garage and all the shops you could need only short drive, with the illusion that you are miles away from anything. It was our first visit to a Elan valley and it is spectacular so much to explore! We cant wait to come back again, we are already looking to book our next trip
Excellent stay at Byrdir cottage. Very clean, warm and comfortable and a lovely welcome cake. We enjoyed the far reaching views, with many Red Kites overhead and other garden birds visiting regularly. Please note check out time is now 9.30am, not 10.00am as advised by Sykes.
Debbie
Lovely location and very comfy, would definitely recommend. We all said how comfy the beds were. Nice little touches like Wellington boots, milk tea coffee sugar. Fruit loaf which was delicious. There was mould in 2 of the bedrooms and disappointed that there was no tips on any of the pool cues
Simonne
Superb cottage and very well equipped in a beautiful location. The property was very comfortable and well maintained. We had a fantastic time there and will hopefully be back soon.
Really nice cottage, fabulous views, close to many interesting places, best ... Really nice cottage, fabulous views, close to many interesting places, best eating place was The Bell country inn on the way to Llandrindod Wells, very private and dog loved playing in the field, if you get confused by directions its 4th turning on the left after Greggs
Byrdir Cottage is beautiful Extremely clean and tidy, beautiful furnishings Kitchen had everything you could have needed and with the games room there was something for everyone of all ages. Will 100 be returning
Had a brilliant holiday in a lovely cottage with all the comforts of home. Our teenage grandchildren loved the games room and dog spent lots of time in the garden Location was great as were the magnificent views on each side of cottage Have already booked for next year
Carole
We had a lovely time at the cottage. Although it was isolated there was plenty to keep us amused. Watching displays by the red kites in the nearby fields. The play room in the barn was a great success with its pool table, table tennis table and dart board. Also plenty of dvds and jigsaw puzzles. There was plenty of space for the 7 of us and 2 dogs who had plenty of outdoor space to wander in safety..
Place was amazing very peaceful would definitely go again.
We loved our stay here well equipped and thoughtful touches, easy communication with owners during stay, so peaceful and quiet. Incredible Mountain Views. Lots to do in local area and further afield. We would be very happy to come again!
Vennessa
Truly fabulous cottage in Beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful with a lovely atmosphere. The kitchen is well stocked with herbs and condiments plus a very nice welcome pack. There was plenty of room for 7 adults and our 2 dogs. The gardens are immaculate and the games room is perfect for keeping people occupied. There is an excellent petrol station 20 minutes walk away which sells everything you need, including a Greggs cafe ! The village of Rhayader is only a 10 minute drive away and has lots of shops, cafes and pubs. Spriggs Taxis are very reliable and drove us around when we didnt want to take the car. We highly recommend the food in The Castle. Not as posh as the other 2 pubs but friendlier and better priced. Elan valley is only a 10 minute drive away and should not be missed, it is stunningly beautiful. Car is essential if people are not good walkers or have mobility problems as the drive up to the house is long and steep, but is perfect for long walks and wildlife spotting. We highly recommend Byrdir and will definitely come again.
An oasis of tranquility and beauty. The cottage is very well equipped. One of the best we have stayed in. The countryside of Mud Wales cannot be beaten.
