About Ploony Barn

Ploony Barn is a lovingly restored drover's cottage set in a scenic position in Mid Wales. This characterful barn conversion sits in Bleddfa, just 7.5 miles from Knighton. Oak beams and flooring create a rustic feel throughout. A fenced stream runs alongside the property and fields stretch out in every direction.

The location is restful and secluded. You'll drive a mile down a bumpy track to reach the barn. Red kites circle overhead. Sheep and lambs graze in surrounding fields. Offa's Dyke Path and Owain Glyndwr's Way run through nearby Knighton. The Radnor Forest and Elan Valley reservoirs are within easy reach.

The barn sleeps five across two bedrooms. The family room has a king-size bed and single bed. The second bedroom contains a king-size bed. Downstairs you'll find a walk-in shower room. Upstairs there's a bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath. The open-plan living space includes a kitchen with gas range oven, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove.

Ludlow (13 miles, 25 minutes) offers markets and a 13th century castle. Hay-on-Wye (23 miles, 35 minutes) hosts the famous literary festival. Powis Castle makes a great day trip. The Long Mynd provides gliding and paragliding opportunities.

Plooney Barn was everything it said it was. It was lovely and clean and had all the amenities needed. We watched the Perseid meteor shower in the garden with no light pollution and it was amazing. The hot tub was just what was needed after a long day walking. Beautiful part of Wales and would definitely book again.

Having worked in architecture in Switzerland, this barn conversion has been extremely successful. Congratulations to Darren and Lyndsey. The location is fairly remote, never seen so many sheep and lambs in my life. The hot tub was ideal for chilling out and observing the red kites. Ploony Barn is a wonderful place to stay. It's very quiet and has a lovely garden for dog to play in that is totally secure Everything is included for your stay including a tumble dryer which was excellent for us as we had a little bit of bad weather during our stay We were lucky enough to meet Lyndsey at a local pub so it was great to put a face to a name. It is very clear that Lyndsey is passionate about providing excellent quality accommodation for her guests. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the barn again, especially as we have friends in the area

Lovely property in a lovely location. The only thing I would note is it is about a 12 mile drive down a track and can be bumpy but if you go slow as recommended you will be fine . It would not put us off staying again. It was love to see cows and sheep right opposite the accommodation. Just be careful if you go for a walk especially with dogs as there was few bulls and a lot of cows.

Owing to the fact that we live in Wales this was our first break away for purely countryside views. Our home is very close to the sea. We stayed at Ploony Barn from 260424 until 030524 for our wedding anniversary and both mine and my wifes birthdays. As soon as we saw the location of the barn we were taken aback it was and is beautiful. There was countryside along with sheep and cattle as far as we could see and the place picturesque and peaceful. The barn was amazing with everything that you would need from dishwasher to washing machine and whatever else you could think was there it was wanting for nothing. It was beautifully clean and extremely tidy. The owner Lindsay was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a couple of very minor queries that we asked Lindsay for her advice to which we received responses from her within minutes and these were helpful and very positive. Overall we had an amazing week which we enjoyed totally. The location and the barn were amazing. We would recommend Ploony Barn to anyone wishing to have a holiday in a totally exquisite place and location. We intend to return for another holiday in the not too distant future. The barn is perfect. I would highly recommend this place, certainly got the WOW factor. Relaxing evenings in the hot tub surrounded by magnificent scenery. Beautiful walks with the dogs. It is safe and secure. The design of the barn is amazing. Lindsey and Darren owners were available all the time.

Ploony Barn provided very good accommodation for 4 adults and one toddler. The quality of the conversion was excellent. It was great because we were also able to borrow a high chair and a stairgate, and fire guard were provided. The laundry facilities in the utility proved to be very useful as we had rubbish weather. To top things off the owners were pleasant and helpful.

Great holliday and lovely cottage, we would definitely stay again if you are looking to escape and you want peace and quiet away from everyone this is the place to go, the barn was so clean and tidy it was faultless, Thanks Lindsey and Daren for an enjoyable stay.

Perfect place to stay to get away from it all. Beautiful location in the valley & the barn was fitted out to a very high standard. Perfect for us a couple & one small dog but large enough for a family. Very comfortable & cozy & we just didnt want to leave ! Nice walks outside the door as well as the stunning Elan valley a short drive away. Absolutely loved the hot tub after a days walking & was always warm & ready to use. Absolutely loved this place & cant recommend it enough!

Beautiful barn perfect base for exploring the wonderful countryside with lots of walking on your doorstep. The barn is very comfortable, and perfectly clean throughout. A fantastic lovingly restored barn with everything you will need. It was clan comfortable in a beautiful quiet location. The hosts were great and not really needed because everything was spot on. We have stayed in many cottages over the years but his s the best yet. Would highly recommend a visit.

We stayed at Plooney barn over the festive period. . it was amazing! The barn was nicely decorated with a lovely Christmas tree and decorations. It was very clean and spacious, with a great garden for the dogs to run around. A lovely quiet location with some great walks. The hot tub was a fantastic way to end the day. Lindsey and Darren were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Wed definitely recommend this home, it was such a nice relaxing place to be.

The care and maintenance of this characterful property is obvious Lindsey and Darren have achieved a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. It was spotlessly clean too. Not even any limescale in the kettle! We would have no hesitation recommending to others. Thank you to them both for providing such comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting.

Plooney Barn was a lovely property with lots of room a fab kitchen and boot room. The dogs loved the garden plenty of space for a run around If your looking for peace and quiet and to just chill out then this is the place. The hot tub was relaxing at the end of the day. We four adults 2 dogs stayed for four nights at Plooney Barn and were sad to leave. The barn was welcoming on arrival with flowers and wine, there was clear instructions left on how to use the facilities as well as a wealth of information on local attractions. We found the barn was well equipped, a spacious utility room with washer and dryer an outside tap to hose down the dogs after a long walk, comfortable beds, reclining chairs a SMART tv and so much more. The Hot Tub was definantly a highlight private and not overlooked perfect for relaxing in of an evening. It was very peaceful and quiet, exactly what we wanted. Mobile reception was non exsistant on the O2 network but wifi was available. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and are already looking to book again.
