Elan Reviews

Elan Shepherds hut is an absolute idyll and makes for a fantastic retreat. The owners, Colin and Janet are around should you need them, although they don't encroach or interfere in your space at all. I cannot recommend highly enough.
Heather
As usual idyllic week, 2nd visit this year, we will continue to come
The mattress definitely needs replacing though. You can feel the springs unfortunately. It was a beautiful hut with everything needed. Lovely and clean. The view was gorgeous! Thank you for a lovely stay!
The shepherd huts are lovely with beautiful views, and only being one of two huts made it more personal. They're very small which again suits us, and the facilities again were small but perfect, a good modern shower, sink and toilet and a kingsize bed, what's not to like. We go away for a few days every month, and try different types of accommodation and we loved this one. The area is perfect as a base for the Elan Vally reservoirs and dams, and the mountain road to Aberystwyth was great too.
Phillip
Lovely little stay away. Little hut prepped with everything we needed thank you
We have had a very nice stay in Elan. Friendley owners en a nice comfortable clean tiny house!!!
Richard
Well, I don't know where to start. The owner is lovely, the hut is amazing. Pure peace and quiet but not far from the nearest town. Absolutely amazing.
Heather
Visit twice a year for 3 years, stunning every time, the addition of the veranda enhances the experience. Cannot speak highly enough about the holiday, the accommodation, the setting and the owners.
We had a lovely stay in Elan! It was very idyllic and a beautiful setting with lovely views of the Welsh hills. One thing to flag to other dog owners is that the property on a working farm and in a field which cows and sheep graze in. This wasnt a problem for us and we enjoyed having the livestock so close. Although the property is enclosed with a fence, small & medium dogs can easily get through the part of the fence that separates the hut from the rest of the field this could be resolved by continuing the chicken wire fencing along here. This wasnt a problem for us but more of a flag for people with prey driven dogs. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!!
We had a lovely 4 day break at Elan . Amazing views , so peaceful & relaxing . The shepherd hut was spotless and has everything you need .it has big windows which open wide which was important to us as i dont like to be enclosed We took our dog Daisy and had no worries as there was an enclosed garden around the hut . Wonderful reception from owners . We had an email asking if we arrived safely. WE CANT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH , it is beautiful and rural .somewhere to recharge your batteries away from hustle & bustle of life We will definitely go back Wendy , Sean & our dog Daisy x
Heather
The setting could not be more perfect, property exactly as stated, owners are on hand if needed but never intrude, we keep coming back and it's better each time. We can't wait to come again.
Lorraine Michelle
Absolutely loved my stay at Elan. I needed to step off the world for a few days and recharge and thats exactly what Elan enabled for me. Good base for exploring the local area, Elan was beautiful, had everything you needed and a few extras, loved it. Janet and her family are amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thankyou for sharing your little piece of heaven, will definitely be back
The Shepherd Hut is fantastic . .. well thought out and you can see that a lot of effort and love has gone into the buildconstruction. My partner and I didn't waste any time in booking this lovely hut in a perfect location. The amenities were great!!! A big thank you to Janet and her family for the kindness and hospitality received. We can most definitely recommend Elan Valley as a mustsee part of the country whilst staying at one of the Shepherd huts. We are looking forward to staying there again as there is so much to see ... stargazing being one of them.
Cosy and warm with quality equipment in shepherds hut. Temperature outside dropped to 4C but still lovely and warm. Stunning views and fabulous location.
My only comment us that the photo shows a stable door which would allow top opening of the door. This is not accurate. It didn't affect my stay but others may prefer it. Otherwisea fabulous stay. Glorious views and isolated just my choice.
Heather
Second visit this year, stunning location, the perfect retreat
Steven
We had a fantastic time, the bed was comfy, there was a fence separating us from the other hunt, and fields so we could let her run without worry. We made use of the BBQ, and enjoyed the quite evenings.
Brilliant property to stay at, lovely views and quite area. Had an amazing time, would love to come back!
Gareth
Myself and my husband totally enjoyed our stay, relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable. The shepards huts are now separated by fencing, and was told by the owner that they are putting decking from the doors ,which would help because steps are steep, which would be amazing.I would definitely recommend and we Will be returning Thanks you
Stephanie
U need to state its no good for disable people which i am an had great difficulty gettin in an out of the hut as steps are no good an very slippy wen wet. It wud of been nice if u wud of popped down to say hello, how cum u said there was only 1 hut left wen theres only 2 stuck in a field in the middle of nowhere an it takes at least 2hrs to get to a town, an the other hut was empty.also if u need the toilet in the nite u have to climb over someone to get out the bed.I think ur criteria of the huts etc is very deceiving an i wudnt stay again or recommend it. I doubt if u will publish this
Heather
Second visit ,idyllic setting, everything we needed booking again for October
I had the best experience here! The owners were very friendly and being on holiday on my own was nice they stopped to say hello. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable, have everything you needed. Being here with my dog it was nice to see a fence had been put up between the two as this made it very stress free time. The location is stunning and will definitely be coming back!
Amanda
A beautiful, peaceful retreat in the Welsh countryside. The shepherds hut was cosy and positioned in a quiet, secluded spot ideal for rest and relaxation. Plenty of places to explore and ideal for star gazing. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic facilities and location. Even had a pint of milk waiting in the fridge on arrival the small things matter. Would book again in a heartbeat.
Sophie
My Shepards hut was absolutely amazing. I cant thank the owners enough. I couldnt fault anything and the little gifts were so lovely and much appreciated. It was so cosy and had everything we needed. Brilliant for the dog too with the enclosed garden.
Amanda
Very comfortable, clean and cosy, directions spot on had no trouble finding it ... Very comfortable, clean and cosy, directions spot on had no trouble finding it at all, loved the peace and quiet, will definitely be returning
Jonathan
Great place to stay, a big selling point which should really be added is the night sky when it is clear, my wife and I stared at the stars for hours. The only gripe, which is very minor at best, the mirror provided in the bathroom was a little too high for a 5ft 3 and a half inch lady, as I said, Minor. Overall the experience was great, a lovely area to walk around and a fantastic place to stay, we would definitely come again.
A rural retreat hideaway. Beautiful views, peace and comfortable hut. Stayed here with my husband for a week. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend the Shepherd Hut Elan.
Melanie
Lovely property with everything we needed. Extra touches really made the difference Welsh cakes, bbq, oil, washing up liquid, tea coffee sugar etc. Amazing view from the hut which was so relaxing, the dog had a great time too! We had the most relaxing few days and can't thank you enough!
Fab little hut, and really enjoyed the break. Many thanks. Water heating needs a little thought. Warm shower for 30 seconds, then remained cold. Not too bad in warm weather, but wouldn't be so keen after arriving back following a soaking day in the hills!
Zuzanna
Lovely, quiet place, very clean. Thank you for fizzy and biscuits as a welcome. Great view every morning and amazing place to observe the sky at night. Elan Valley is not far away 8 min by car with beautiful views. You can rent a bike or plan whole day walking trip. You can also find other attractions nearby such as canoeing or red kite feeding.
Claire
Lovely stay, would recommend and certainly stay again!
Heather
Found the property exactly as stated, but scenery was amazing, laying in bed watching red kites fly past the window sheep in the fields and mountains as a backdrop was so much better than expected, wonderful stay.
Elizabeth
We couldnt have asked for more from this beautifully situated getaway! The hut was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We had a perfect stay and will definitely be returning before too long.
Thank you for a lovely stay
