The Searle Reviews

Cheryl
The cottage was toasty and warm for our arrival, a relief after a busy day. Everything seemed a high standard and the stocked coffeetea station was a excellent plus. The cottage had washing up things, kitchen roll etc and the bathroom had loo roll. There were a couple of robes provided and a door from the bedroom to access the garden, to use the jacuzzi. You need to turn the lights on in the living room or else you are sat in the dark, but the fairy lights around the ceiling came into there own in the evening and cemented the cosiness. There was ample parking just outside our garden gate. We could have done with an information pack to tell us what to do with our rubbish. We didn't know where to put our bags at the end of the holiday. But there were bags provided so we could separate all our recycling and a compost caddy. The enclosed garden was good for our dogs, we felt they were safe when we tried the hot tub. The hot tub was a great asset. We have never used one before and it was a great introduction, sat with the Kites flying overhead. Although we will probably not try using one with dogs in the future as they just pined whilst we were out of bounds. The TV was a bit weird as it wasn't tuned to terrestrial channels. It only had live TV via apps, but we managed. The cottage was an excellent base to visit Elan Valley and we also visited Water BreakIts Neck waterfall. There is a petrol station right across the way but it's not obtrusive. There's also an Asda express and Greggs situated there, just a minutes walk away, so we got supplies and the odd bacon roll during our stay. The cottage was quirky and high quality and I would highly recommend a stay. It was a relaxing haven after our busy days.

We had a great time staying at the Searle, super location for many midWales attractions. Great walk by the river Wye, accessed at the bottom of the garden.
We stayed there for 7 nights Monday to Monday for My girlfriend birthday it was our first holiday together. Beautiful scenery next to the River Wye. If you have Dogs they will love the paths thats around there that you can walk down. Definitely will go again.
A little gem has everything you could possibly need. Bed is very comfortable. Wouldn't expect a hot tub for the price, but it was much appreciated.
Contact details in cottage out of date,a bit of maintenance needed. .

Had a fantastic holiday the cottage was cosy , quirky and felt so homely we settled in straight away. The surrounding walks were beautiful especially up at Elan valley would recommend for a nice getaway would definitely book again next year
Having stayed at the Searle some 8 months ago,it seems a shame that little or no maintenance has been orchestrated at the property, the outside space is drab and uncared for with rendering and paint falling of the walls, as this has an enclosed garden not the best surroundings when occupying the hot tub, inside the general condition was more favourable, however unfortunately the dishwasher had broken, offer of repair was there, but we left the owner to fix prior to next occupancy, the bedroom curtains had visible staining in the lining, maybe some of the above is not being actioned due to the property being on the market with local agents Chancellors, and the continuance of the property in total for getaways in doubt? Taking all of this into consideration we again overall enjoyed our stay Thank you.
The inside of the property is well maintained, however, the outside is slightly run down and definitely needs attention, not the relaxing environment to take a hot tub. The kitchen was not well stocked with utensils, pans etc, just the very basics and some of the utensils were dirty and we had to wash them before using. The real downside to this property is the location. It is slightly set back from the very busy A road so you hear the traffic all day from very early in the morning. It is also right next door to a petrol station which is not mentioned in the description or in the directions received upon payment. Had we known this, we would not have booked.
The cottage was spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable. Kitchen was short on utensils, pots, pans and crockery. Hot tub was lovely, but outside space was tired and weedy. Rose arch so overgrown that it was difficult to exit. Area was beautiful for dogwalking.
Cleanliness was exceptional, sparkling. Hot tub amazing, will definitely be booking again. A very cozy and comfortable stay
