About Haymill Retreat

Haymill Retreat is a luxury private estate in a peaceful valley just outside Trefeglwys in Powys, Mid Wales. Positioned between the market towns of Llanidloes and Machynlleth, this is a working farm that has been in the same family since 1945. The 10 surrounding acres are organic and pesticide-free. Two wood-fired hot tubs, a Heartwood Sauna and a dedicated spa treatment room make this one of the most well-equipped wellness escapes in Wales.

The estate sits in a breathtaking valley with panoramic rural views. River steps, woodland walks and a three-acre conservation area are all on the doorstep. A pub is within walking distance. Solar panels and rainwater harvesting reflect a genuine commitment to sustainability.

Sleeps 20 across two properties Hay Barn and Mill House each sleep 10 across 5 en-suite bedrooms. Hay Barn has an oak-framed interior with five king-size bedrooms. Mill House is a restored grain mill with a super-king master bedroom and four further king-size rooms. The Piggeries wellness space with bar, dining table and treatment room is linked to Mill House by a covered walkway.

Llyn Clywedog reservoir is nearby. Machynlleth is 16 miles away. Aberystwyth and Aberdyfi beach are within reach.

For Families

Children are welcome at Haymill Retreat. The estate has extensive landscaped gardens, a three-acre conservation area, river steps and open countryside on the doorstep. Note that children are strictly not permitted in or around the Heartwood Sauna at any time. Fishing is available on site.

For Couples

Couples can book Hay Barn or Mill House individually. Both have wood-fired hot tubs, king-size or super-king beds and en-suite bathrooms throughout. The Piggeries treatment room can be booked for in-stay massages. Panoramic valley views and a sauna with one complimentary session per stay complete the picture.

Pet Friendly

One dog is allowed per property. With Hay Barn and Mill House booked together that means two dogs on the estate. The grounds cover 10 organic acres with woodland walks and a river on the doorstep. A dog fee applies and is shown at checkout.

Does Haymill Retreat have a hot tub?

Yes there are two wood-fired hot tubs, one for each property. They are emptied, cleaned and refilled after every booking, so the temperature may not be fully optimal on arrival.

Is Haymill Retreat pet friendly?

One dog is permitted per property, so two dogs in total if both Hay Barn and Mill House are booked together. A dog fee applies and will be shown in your booking summary.

How many people does Haymill Retreat sleep?

The retreat sleeps up to 20 guests across the two properties. Hay Barn sleeps 10 and Mill House sleeps 10, each with five en-suite bedrooms.

What is the Piggeries space used for?

The Piggeries is a converted farm building linked to Mill House by a covered walkway. It features a bar, a large dining area, a wood-burning stove and a dedicated treatment room for spa bookings.

Can we book spa treatments during our stay?

Yes the treatment room in the Piggeries can be booked as an extra at checkout. Treatments are available for massages and relaxation sessions during your stay.

Is the sauna available to all guests including children?

One complimentary sauna session per stay is included for adults. Strictly no children are permitted in or around the sauna at any time.

Is there parking and EV charging at the retreat?

Private parking is available on the estate. There is also EV charging for up to three vehicles simultaneously using one 7kW/32amp charger and two 13amp points.

What is the check-in and check-out process?

Check-in is from 16:00 using a self-check-in key box for flexible arrival. Check-out is by 10:00. If your stay begins within two days of booking, contact the property directly to confirm arrival arrangements.
