The Pheasantry Reviews

Doreen
We stayed over the Christmas period and had a lovely time. The hot tub and pool table were well used and there was plenty of room for people to have their own space if wanted. The games room was brilliant for everyone to gather around and there were lots of games to choose from. The choice of books meant it was like having your own little library! Communication with the owners, David and Caroline, was very good and they were extremely kind and helpful when we had a slight problem nothing to do with the house Overall we would definitely recommend a stay at the Pheasantry.
We have recently returned from a wonderful weeks holiday at the Pheasantry. It was a special planned birthday treat for our three generation family. I researched similar venues extensively before booking as we had specific requirements, 6 bedrooms being important to us and we ranged in ages from 7 to 70!!. The Pheasantry came out top of my research and it did not disappoint. It is very spacious, we all commented about how we were able to both be together to eat and play as well as spread out for more solitary activities. All the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was big and laid out in a way that three or four of us were able to work in the kitchen without getting in one anothers way. We chose not to pay extra to use the aga and managed really well with one oven, the big hob and the versatile microwaveovengrill combo. There was an abundance of storage. The in house entertainment was welcome and another decider in chosing The Pheasantry we had teenagers in our party. And we made use of everything thoughtfully offered. The pool table, a Baby grand piano, a room with a huge cupboard full of games with a big table, outdoor table tennis and the luxury hot tub..... as well as a fire pit. On our last night we did some pumpkin carving ready for halloween! The quiet lounge upstairs with an extensive library & smaller TV was a super addition as well as the small downstairs snug with giant TV this was great for our football & film obsessed family. The gardens were gorgeous and the autumn colours breathtaking. What an amazing old oak tree & super swing. Some of us did a lovely circular walk into town and back. We only have a couple of picky suggestions we could have done with a few more smaller pans, frying pans & knife sharpener in what was a very well equipt kitchen really. I was the only person who could have done with a extraspare warm blanket on my bed, but I snaffled the one off the sofa & that worked. Thank you to David and Caroline for sharing your lovely family home. We had a really memorable big family celebration....and some of us even got to take alpacas walking in the Brecon Beacons! We have never said that we would like to return to a holiday property ever before, your we would seriously like to come back to The Pheasantry!
This was our second visit to the pheasantry and we all absolutely loved the place and the garden it's very cosy and peaceful the lounge upstairs could do with a bigger TV as it's to small for the size of the room so we tend to sit in the snug room with netflix on but it's a tight squeeze when there's a lot of you. We enjoyed the firepit outside of an evening and we made good use of the beautiful kitchen although it would be fantastic if they added a few new things like an air fryer and coffee machine we found a few things missing in the drawers like a fish knife, pizza cutter etc. but that's being extremely picky we cannot fault the pheasantry and would have absolutely no hesitation in booking again. Simply stunning!!.

This was our third visit so we obviously love staying at the Pheasantry. We are a party of four mature in age but not particularly in personalities sibling couples whose requirements in holiday rentals are predominately the necessity of at least four ensuite bedrooms, a pool table and a decent local golf course. The Pheasantry supplies all of these in abundance. Its a beautiful house within a large secluded mature plot of land so you really feel that youre away from the crowds. We were made to feel very welcome at the golf course which in itself is spectacular. Theres a pleasant river walk into Builth Wells where theres a Coop for restocking your groceries but we can also recommend organizing a Tesco delivery for your arrival hopefully youll get the same jolly delivery man as we did Even though we stayed as September moved into October we were able to have three leisurely lunches outside in the sunshine. We tend to take turns for each couple to present the evening meals plenty of good tools and equipment although the oven did cause some stress as its not of the same standard as the other appliances in the house We had a special celebratory meal at Feast the food was delicious and the chef and staff very friendly. Everything is cooked freshly so it is advisable to book and even to choose your desired dish from the menu in advance. Going back to the property weve always found it to be spotlessly clean which is probably the most important thing when renting accommodation We tend to spend most of our our indoor time either around the tables there are two large tables in separate rooms or playing Killer Pool Weve never really used the upstairs sitting room but its there if needed Every year we spend hours researching possible properties to try for a change but often decide to return to The Pheasantry which we know and love.
Absolutely beautiful location, unfortunately we had alot of rain so couldn't enjoy the hot tub and outside facilities as much. Despite that, the dogs loved the area to run around in, made friends with the pheasants aswell. Lovely two weeks.
Lovely house in a marvellous setting. Plenty for the grandchildren to do both indoors and out. All three generations enjoyed the holiday at the Pheasantry, indeed a couple of the younger grandchildren didn't want to leave. Very well equipped and maintained. David, the observer friendly and helpful. We will definitely book again.
Richard
Great property in a quiet woodland location, wellequipped and very comfortable.
Elizabeth
Beautiful house with fantastic garden. The rooms are spacious and there is enough spaces to be on your own when needed. We went as an extended family of 10 and loved it. We loved the wildlife there, particularly the birds on the bird feeder. We also used the hot tub and the fire pit. The fire pit was a great attraction to the teenagers who made smores and toasted marshmallows. Loved it. One week was not enough!
Stephen
Great accommodation, great communication from the owners, spacious, clean, and comfortable, and in a great location.
Had a great holiday, the house was lovely, we will definitely be back in the future.
This house is absolutely gorgeous and ideal for our family of ten. Kitchen was so well stocked. The grandsons loved the pool table and table tennis. The separate snug with telly and the indoor games cupboard also brilliant on rainy days. Every bedroom had comfortable beds. We loved the hot tub and were taken by surprise by the beautiful garden. A fabulous stay. Thank you.
Sandra
Lovely stay again at The Pheasantry. Children loved the pool table and table tennis and practiced their pieces on the piano. The tv room was very popular The hot tub was very nice and great for watching the stars. Beds are very comfy and the house is very clean and a perfect size for our large family Outdoor garden was great for the children and dog. The warming room was very useful as we had as couple of rainy days. The kitchen and dining area are great for family meals and card and board games Overall a great place for our half term break
We really love it here. This was our second visit, and it wont be our last. Thank you.
Such a beautiful and very comfortable home everybody loved it! Loved the privacy of the place watching all the wildlife, we made full use of the hot tub and table tennis. Kitchen had a few little things missing, a whisk for eggs and a proper mop would have been useful. Definitely going to book again for next year!
Joanne
We had a lovely stay at the property. Everything was really well maintained and we didn't want for anything. The host was extremely friendly and responsive. The pool table, piano and hot tub was enjoyed by all! We loved all the different rooms and there was so much space for everyone. Star gazing is a must from the beautiful garden on a clear night. We would definitely recommend. Also, we would recommend a visit to Elan Valley Reservoirs and the BreakItsNeck waterfall.
We have just come home from a wonderful week away at the Peasantry. Our family of 8 and 2 dogs. The house was very comfortable and well equipped keeping our three Grandsons occupied, our youngest grandson really enjoyed playing the piano. The garden and grounds kept the dogs happy. The Peasantry is exceptional. We enjoyed the lovely walk along the river into Builth Wells. Thank You David & Caroline.
First family holiday in years and we wasn't disappointed. The house was in a fantastic location, quite and plenty of wildlife to see. The house was spacious and very well equipped with everything you could think of.The added bonus was the fire pit as we spent many evenings outside. The owners very helpful would highly recommend
Amazing house, gardens and hot tub. Ideally located with a short walk to the shops and pubs, via the river if you wish. Lovely little village with lots to offer. So many walks on the doorstep, we didnt scratch the surface so will definitely be back for further exploring.
An absolutely lovely cottage well maintained with plenty cups and crockery, which is a bonus with tea drinkers. The towels were lovely and fluffy and great bed linen. We especially liked the welcome package of cake bread eggs and much more what a lovely touch. There are plenty of walks to access and things to do. This was an ideal cottage for a family celebration.
Sandra
We had a wonderful family holiday. The grandchildren loved the house and garden and the hot tub. The facilities were excellent Hope to return
We had a fabulous stay here for new year. The house was very clean and spacious with lots of room for all generations. Playing games in the lounge in the evening with the woodburner on was very cosy. The teenagers and adults all enjoyed playing pool and the hot tub. Some table tennis was also enjoyed in between the rain and frost. We liked the close proximity to Builth Wells and walked into town easily from the house. We also enjoyed trips to Llandrindod Wells, Rhayader, Elam Valley and Hay on Wye.
Anastasios
Owners were very helpful. This is a great place to stay for a group of 810.
Daniel
This place is simply lovely! We are a group of 9 plus a dog made up of two families, and this place was perfect for us. Well equipped, clean, fresh, great hot tub, great communication from the owners HIGHLY recommend!
The Phesantry is a fantastic property with amazing well enclosed grounds. We had a great time. Games rooms pool table outdoor ping pong. Super location. Town nice. On our return list.
A beautiful remote property with great views. The pool and table tennis were loved by all. The beds were comfortable which was great after a day exploring the brecon beacons.
This was the first holiday we've had with extended family and everyone had a lovely time in this beautiful house. The Pheasantry is a very comfortable spacious house with just about all the modcons you could possibly need. The hot tub and pool room were a big hit all round as were the games in the dining room and the swing in the well maintained large garden, which is a haven for various birds, bats, rabbits and other wildlife. Yes, we did see a couple of pheasants, too! The bedrooms are bright and airy with big comfy beds. The ensuites and family bathroom were very user friendly. The kitchen area is really the hub of the home here. It is very well stocked right down to the quirky egg cups! Our normally anxious dog also settled very quickly and didnt want to leave! Great location, great house, great holiday.
We returned yesterday from a fabulous 7 day stay at the Pheasantry. We had 9 people in our party plus a dog and found everything at the property to entertain our family and friends whose ages ranged from 12 years to 70 years. The property was very comfortable and a perfect size for our party. We were left not wanting for anything as the property was well provisioned. The gardens were impressive and the seating areas perfectly placed. The hot tub was the icing on the cake for all ages as was the outdoor tennis table. We would all highly recommend. If we were being picky it would be good to have a traffic mirror on the opposite side of the entrance drive to enable a more comfortable right turn or the hedges either side trimmed back to enable better visibility of oncoming traffic. Our deposit was also returned super quickly on the day we returned.
A secluded away from it all country property set in lovely gardens which are a joy to wonder around looking at plants & trees, the oak is a marvel. The house is spacious with plenty of room for old & young to cohabitate happily. Our teenage grandchildren appreciated the games room, hot tub & table tennis. lovely big bedrooms with good ensuites & the beds were Wonderfully comfortable with lovely white linen. We would have liked a few more bowls serving dishes, and a pan cleaner would have been useful. All in all a good find in a nice area close to Builth Wells shops & River walks.
The garden is amazing the amount of bird & wild life kept us occupied all week, so reassuring to know that the child & the dogs were safe & secure. The pool & ping pong table was a great asset when sorting meals. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were & the benefit of the en suites. We were very lucky with the weather but could really see the benefit of the dog room for drying off etc. Hot tub well maintained we met the house keeper who was a lovely & any queriesquestions were dealt with promptly. The kitchen area was brilliant & user friendly too overall we would love to return at some point what made the holiday was the fact it was nice & secluded but not a million miles away from town either the views were to die for which ever way you left the property. Can't wait to return.
Loraine
The Pheasantry was a perfect spot for our family gathering. Despite the weather being wet most of the time there were plenty of facilities to keep us entertained. We had a slight hiccup with lack of hot water to begin with but this was promptly sorted and double checked on by our friendly hosts and housekeeper. We would gladly recommend this delightful spot for a family gathering. Loraine
Fantastic stay. Hosts were there to help ifwhenever we needed them. The house is stunning, very clean and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. Super dog friendly place, with a lot of land for them to explore and enjoy. Not too far from Builth centre too. I would 1 million percent stay there again. We didnt want to come home. Thank you for an amazing week
We stayed at the Pheasantry last year & we came back recommendation enough? We enjoyed the facilities and at least one beautiful starry night. Apparently 14 games were played during our stay. Everyone went home happy
Nicola
Beautiful house, great size bedrooms and beds. Lovely location. Great for 10 over Christmas
Absolutely gorgeous house and garden. Larger than expected. Plenty of space for everyone. Really peaceful and relaxing with plenty to visit in the area if you want something to do. We were three generations of the same family hoping to spend some quality time together and the house was perfect for this. Quiet areas for the grandparents when they needed it. Plenty of space in the safe garden for the children to use up their energy. The games room, pool table and tennis table were perfect for the older kids. We would love to visit again and highly recommend.
Sheila
A really lovely property, along a drive, 210ths of a mile from the main road, and set in a large and magical garden. We found the Pheasantry to be spotless in all areas. It's set up with a pool table, piano, games room, large airy and comfy library, jaccuzi and table tennis. Plenty of break away areas should you wish quiet times. We've made more wonderful family memories by staying at the Pheasantry. Such a fabulous week.
Lovely property that worked great for our group of friends! Hot tub was great for relaxing and the men enjoyed the table tennis and pool tables. The dog bath was also a great added bonus. Would say we found the heating in one side of the house didn't seem to respond to us but it was just about warm enough during our stay to not need it.
Alyssa
We were a group of writers and this was a brilliant retreat! The owners were very fast to reply to any questions, and the property was lovely. So many places to spread out! We really enjoyed the underfloor heating for our morning prewriting yoga sessions. Hope to come back!
Yvette
The pheasantry was very comfortable. Hot tub
This was a lovely house with a lovely garden in a lovely part of Wales. Very well equipped and a nice cake and bread was there for our arrival after a long journey. The pool table was a hit with the kids as was the hot tub. The house is more spacious than the description and photos suggest and was perfect for our large group. Fantastic base to explore Wales so nobody wanted to come home. The communication from the owner was great so we can not fault this property in any way. Only advisory, the property is nicely secluded but the road does not have a path for about 100m so be careful if you have small kids. However, the road was not too busy so not a big issue.
