7 Bell Street Reviews

Jessica
We love staying here in the cottage. It is a real home from home. Cosy and comfortable.
This is a great place in the centre of a lovely villages, the walks and welcoming pubs and shops are on the doorstep and the house itself is small footprint but extremely well thought out and maintained with character features and a lovely back garden. The neighbours are the owners and popped in with local produce and the defining feature for a home worker was a lovely loft space to stretch out and get some work done. Recommended.
Cynthia
Very pleased. We loved the cottage, especially the courtyard with so many lovely plants and flowers. Great location for Brecon and canals.
Michael
We both really enjoyed our stay, perfect location for our visit to the Royal Welsh Show, there were lots of lovely extra touches which make a difference, we enjoyed the courtyard in the evening and we hope to come back in the future.
7, Bell Street, was our holiday home 15th20th July. We found the cottage spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable, and Jo and Martyn had obviously thought of everything in order to make our stay a good one. They certainly achieved that! The courtyard was a little piece of heaven on earth, so tranquil and attractive. There was plenty of information available on places of interest locally, places to eat and attractions in and around Powys.......all very helpful to help plan a successful and happy holiday. Our thanks to Jo and Martin for ensuring our first stay in the area was a memorable one. We will most certainly return.
Justin
Had a wonderful stay. The cottage was a great place to use and provided everything we needed for our stay. Talgarth is a lively and engaging place even at the beginning of February! With cafes, pubs, shops and even a museum, it has enough to keep you occupied locally, and it is excellent walking country, but it also made a great base for frequent visits to HayeonWye to shop for books.
Jennifer
Such a lovely cottage. Cosy and wellequipped. Lots of great books and the cottage was really well decorated. I enjoyed the whole week away and it was a lovely base for exploring the surrounding area.
Kathleen
Bijou little cottage, clean and tidy. Beautiful courtyard garden.
Katherine
We didn't want to leave! Quirky, wellplaced cottage in a friendly town. Felt very much at home with the wellstocked book shelves and comfortable beds. Appreciated the welcome pack after a long journey fron Devon. The shady plant filled courtyard garden was alive with insects and swifts flying overhead was a smashing place to relax in after long walks during the day in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.
We had a lovely time at 7 Bell Street. Such a wonderful little cottage. We'll be back!
Patricia
We spent a most enjoyable week in the delightful cottage with everything provided that we needed. It was warm and cosy and the 4ft 6in bed was very comfortable. We look forward to another visit.
A neat and tidy little place licked out in tastefully muted tones of Farrow and Ball, carefully curated with an eye for the aesthetically pleasing, from beautiful oval Shaker boxes in the bedrooms , period ceramics, to delicately placed feathers on the mantelpiece, which I am guessing were gifted from the wheeling red kites we regularly saw above the bijou courtyard garden to the rear. A literary nod to nearby HayonWye with a broad selection of reading material for those wet and windy days, ranging from Alan Bennett's Talking heads to John Cooper Clarke. The characterful kitchen with its stone floor is kitted out with all the practical basics. The beds and linen were perfectly fine The bathroom toiletsinkshower is very compact and does the job. Some points that would significantly improve the experience for us Ramp up the lighting in the bathroom especially around the mirror . Upgrade the telly to a WiFi enabled flatscreen and relocate it on a hinged arm on the wall, so it can be tucked out of the way in the recess when not in use, thus releasing much needed floor space in the sitting room. We met friendly Martin, one of the pair of owners who suddenly appeared through an opening in the wooden fence when we were sitting in the courtyard garden, surrounded by potted Hostas and ferns. He seemed to require regular unobtrusive daily access to the adjacent barn while we were there renovation work in adjoining properties I think. Overall, a really nice quiet and pleasant home from home.,

The cottage is perfect for two and probably one child with a small, cosy living room, a spacious kitchen and a bedroom with one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in. We appreciated the extra heaters during some cold and rainy days. Every room has super nice touches by well picked vintage finds, making this place unique. The bathroom is tiny and a bit dark and one of the two small sofas could be more comfy but these are just minor details. Jo was always quick to respond and we had the chance to check in earlier than anticipated. Talgarth was a perfect base for hikes and we especially recommend the Deli just around the corner for takeaways.
Beautiful period cottage in a lovely location.
Dominic
We had a lovely stay at the cottage, very sweet place with everything we needed for a few nights away. Would happily recommend.
We love the area, local towns and peaceful countryside, also very friendly and helpful people. The cottage was delightful, and the owners had made it very welcoming with many personal and thoughtful touches. We felt very comfortable and at home during our stay. Many thanks.
Lovely place to stay, would definitely revisit
Samantha
This was a great base to spend a lovely few days in the Brecon beacons. The rooms are quite small but in a cosy way, and I must say I thought the attic room was the perfect place to spend a few hours with a book of which the cottage had many! Was a bit worried about leaving my car in the village car park but actually it appeared a lot of residents do the same and it was fine walk to cottage was then just under 5 mins.
Isabel
The property is small but cosy and with a nice homely feel with a location which suited us really well as it was very central in the village with cafe, pubs and restaurants close at hand but in a quieter side street. There was water ingress into the kitchen during our stay from the heavy rain which the owners sorted very quickly and professionally.
Catherine
A lovely cosy cottage and well placed for walks in the Black Mountains and surrounds. The cottage was comfortable with everything you needed, although the bed is very squeaky!
Beautiful, clean, cosy cottage & wellequipped cottage in great location for discovering all hidden gems of Brecon Beacons. Lovely owners made us feel welcome and went extra mile to add personal touch to our experience chocolates, homemade jams, milk, water, bread, etc.. Despite pretty dreadful weather we had great time and enjoyed our stay throughout. Highly recommended
Very good hosts, emaculatly clean, not a lot in village but very good for walkers. Shower needs slip mat very slippery.
Christine
We were made very welcome by the owners and the Welsh cakes waiting for us were really enjoyed! The home was well equipped and well placed in a small village with shops and eating places and plenty of lovely walking in the area. Although there was no parking on site there was plenty around the area and did not cause a problem.
