Kavieng Reviews

Christina
We had a wonderful stay here! The location is fantastic perfect for outdoor lovers like us. We were just minutes away from amazing mountain bike trails at FoD and Bike Park Wales, and beautiful hiking routes what a bonus having Sugar Loaf within walkable distance from the door!. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and peaceful exactly what we needed. We especially liked the welcome bits & bobs and the 'just in case you forgot' box very thoughtful. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to explore South Wales. We'd love to come back!
Alison
Lovely comfortable property, full of character. Owner lives nearby and was on hand to help out with any issues eg finding our way there when we arrived in the dark Very well equipped even to the spare dog towels and bedding if needed. Generous welcome pack with essentials and treats. As advised in the listing, it is a 100m walk on narrow cobbled path with bridges from parking area through gardens to the property, possibly not appropriate for anyone with mobility issues. A lovely property, very much enjoyed our stay.

This place is amazingthoughtful people who rent it out.
A lovely & comfortable apartment with excellent facilities. The little walk through the garden to and from the car was a small adventure in its own right, especially with the sensor lighting at night illuminating the way. Whilst close to a main road, traffic noise was minimal. I was working when staying, however I know the area has fantastic outdoor activities & this would be a fantastic place to return to after a day in the hills.
Thank you so much to the owners we had a lovely stay in a lovely apartment that was so well equipped and comfortable that we wanted for nothing. Thank you once again
Sheila
From start to finish,we found Kavieng outstanding. We arrived to find the flat exceptionally clean, warm, comfortable and welcoming. No detail have been missed, right down to fresh flowers and welcome pack which was really appreciated. There really is everything you need. The location is perfect for walking locally, going further into the Brecon Beacons or visiting places both sides of the border with England. Local amenities are in nearby Abergavenny or Crickhowell. What more could we need! Looking forward to returning in the future.
The accommodation was excellent, everything was clean and comfortable. Lots of extra welcoming goodies. Had a fantastic time.
Nicola
Everything was very well thought out, there was everything you could possibly need and bits and bobs if you had forgotten anything. Decor is calming and comfortable, beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish it could have been for longer.
This is a super property in a very convenient location. Everything is of a high specification and it is extremely easy to relax and enjoy the holiday without issues.
A great place to stay, cozy and well appointed with a pleasant garden
How lovely to be in the Brecon Beacons and be able to walk up the Sugar Loaf from the flat! We loved Raglan castle, only a 20 minute drive away, took lunch with us and stayed 2 12 hours The flat was great, clean comfortable and good quality furnishings, pretty garden which had lots of butterflies red admirals and painted ladies even in late September. So very happy all round!
Sheila
A beautiful property in a stunning area. On arrival, everything was at it should be, spotlessly clean, well maintained and every detail well thought out. The addition of fresh flowers and the welcome pack were a lovely touch, too. The owner was also incredibly helpful prior to our stay and for that we were very grateful.
Having stayed in many Sykes cottages this is the best. Friendly hosts, the thought gone into everything was exceptional. The ordnance survey maps, books, well equipped kitchen, flower displays and dog treats. Perfect.
Lovely flat in a great location, especially if you like walking, owners are very nice and sociable, we had a great time and would recommend a stay .
Graham
We really enjoyed our stay in Kavieng, the second visit we have made to a welcoming and comfortable cottage with every facility we needed. Our first stay was in October '24 so it was interesting to see the BreconAbergavenny area in both Autumn and Spring, a beautiful area to explore, good walks in the countryside and interesting townsvillages. Vicky and Stuart are great hosts, the cottage is clean and comfortable. All in all a great place to stay!
Christine
The property was perfect, warm, comfortable, welcoming. We are definitely planning to return, clearly the owners have put thought and time into this cottage, we loved it .
Pamela
Great hosts very welcoming. Fabulous location for accessing sugar loaf mtn.
Vicky & Stuart had catered for everything you could need plus so much more. Accommodation was spacious but warm & cosy. Bedrooms & bathroom particularly stunning! And the reclining couch so comfortable. All the little extras were so thoughtful and greatly appreciated. Would definitely recommend a stay here. For us it was a perfect base for walks and cold water swims. Thank you so much.
Graham
We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Kavieng. The accommodation was very comfortable with excellent facilities. Vicky and Stuart were very welcoming and the information provided about the local area comprehensive and useful. The situation, in the Brecon Beacons is really beautiful with towns like Abergavenny, Crickhowell and Brecon providing plenty of interest. This was a great break!
We had a wonderful 4 night holiday at Kavieng with our Jack Russell, Bella. The flat was perfect and the sitting out area was wonderful in the evenings, sitting and listening to the stream running by. So many walks from the doorstep and shops close by. We were lucky with the weather and would definitely book the flat again if we stay in the area.
Nicola
We had a lovely and relaxing stay at Kavieng, you could not ask for a better place to stay. The apartment is really like a cottage and it is extremely clean and comfortable. The owners really have thought of EVERYTHING and it is more like a home than a holiday let, every window you look out of has a pleasant view too. The property is ideally located for access to most places such as Crickhowell and Abergavenny to name a few, both are a short drive away. The owners are extremely friendly and lovely people who are always willing to help, they care! We will definitely check availability at Kavieng if we are visiting the Brecon Beacons again, highly recommended, 5 stars!

We have a brilliant time in kavieng Very comfortable cottage. The standard of everything is excellent. We had excellent nights sleeps in super comfy beds. Will highly recommend to friends and hope to be back.
Lovely, well equipped and immaculately presented ground floor 'cottage' apartment. Owners very welcoming and friendly. Everything you could need whilst on holiday was provided in the apartment. Beautiful gardens and quiet location. Great base location for visiting other parts of South Wales. Plenty of choice for eating out in the neighbouring villages.
Fabulous accommodation, very well equipped, comfortable beds and sofas. Lovely courtyard with ample seating. Great area to explore the Brecon Beacons.
Sincere thanks to Vicky and Stuart for allowing us to use their wonderful flat for the week. Everything about it was tasteful and quality. Nothing at all was missing by way of content and efficiency. We so appreciated the fact that they went over and above the call of duty by providing a brand new BBQ when we enquired if there would be one present for us to use. Special things we loved were the babbling brook throughout the gardens, the solid oak furniture, wrought iron fixtures and fittings, comfortable beds and seating, superfast WiFi, pots of flowers, and welcoming treats for us and Olly. Thank you both. Mike, Denise & Olly xxx
Tracey
Lovely apartment, the owners are very welcoming and have thought of everything, adding extra finishing touches. Hope to return for future holidays.

Stuart ,Vicky and Ilya were soo welcoming and kind. Nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond to make us feel at home . The cottage is beautiful and full of everything , there is no need to take anything with you apart from yr own food . Although there were dog treats, wine, biscuits and a whole lot more for us on arrival . The area is beautiful and our dog Rocco loved it . Would definitely go back there if we were in the area . Thankyou for a fabulous stay .
We have been to quite a few holiday lets. This is by far the best.vicky and Stuart were very friendly and helpful the detailing of all the rooms was amazing I would highly recommend this to anybody wishing a quiet relaxing time.
A very well maintained flat with everything you could wish for. Very comfortable, clean, lots of goodies on arrival, friendly neighbours and very welcoming owners, Stuart and Vicky. Will definitely be coming back, thanks
Robert
A very comfortable and well equipped property with plenty of space, inside and out. Well arranged and positioned for visitors with a dog. Located close enough to main road connections to easily get to local facilities and attractions but far enough from nearest main road for noise not to be a problem. The welcome pack of goodies for both humans and dogs was excellent. We would certainly stay here again if we visit the area.
The property is warm and cosy and the owner very welcoming and available should you need. The kitchen is well equipped and has many extras you wouldnt expect in a holiday property. Everywhere was spotless, plenty of towels and hot water. There is a private area to sit out at the rear, a lovely spot to dine outside. We found the WiFi to be pretty non existent even though there is a BT hub. The pub opposite was closed but there is another within walking distance but check opening times as we got caught out!
Lovely property in a lovely location. Really enjoyed walking the dog from here. Everything has been thought of in the flat and we especially enjoyed the welcome gifts. Owners are lovely too.
Vicky was a fantastic host. We had a great stay. The cottage was beautifully presented throughout. It was cosy, warm, clean and exceptionally wellequipped. Highly recommended.
It was great. I've stayed in loads of holiday homes and this one was excellent and definitely offered some of the best value. Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful owners, brilliantly equipped kitchen, lovely cosy living room. Any feedback I could offer would be really really pedantic, like I didn't really like the table cloth! The only thing that might be good is a shoe rack of some sort in the hall. Maybe a wallmounted shoe cabinet type thing. It was bad enough with my three pairs of muddy shoes but I imagine if it's full of walkers in winter it could be interesting! Oh also lovely garden with the brook running through. Very peaceful setting. Thanks for a fab holiday
Another fantastic week at Kavieng. Vicky and Stuart were as usual great hosts and always on hand if needed and also helpful with ideas about things to do and different places to go. Many thanks, hope to return soon Sara, Ben and Buster.
Swetha
We booked this at very last minute and we simply loved it. Close to all facilities and the beautiful black mountains and waterfalls. Very well maintained and a home with good character. The owners have a lovely taste for the interiors. The small brook that flowed through the cottages was a pleasant thing. Very friendly and helpful landlords. They went their extra mile to help us with our car's flat tyre too. People around the area were very friendly and kind too. I will definitely recommend this place. We will plan to visit again
Mustafa
