Great Owl Lodge Reviews

Dennis
The price was very good considering it was over the NYE period. Excellent location, clear instructions, good facilities, good shower, clean, no pet smells for a pet friendly place. This location also incl hot tub. For the price this was reasonable 523 for 4 days in a 4 person cabin over the NYE period. What could have made it better... French style doors to hit tub let a draft in the kept the room below optimal temperature. We bought a fan heater for 17 at Tesco which resolved it. Great places to visit nearby including several waterfalls and countryside settings. Lots pubs and eateries nearby. Recommended.
A lovely location, the lodge was clean and tidy, reasonably comfortable although the sofas were not comfy. WiFi was very dodgy and frequently didnt work. The kitchen facilities were fine other than no bread knife or weighing scales. Heating was good, hot tub a nice and relaxing resource.
This would be 5 stars, if not for the beds. My fiance and I stayed here last week, our first weeklong getaway since COVID. Cabin is great, location private, hot tub wonderful, and easy to use the TV if you take a Chromecast and hotspot from your phone. Combiboiler for on demand heat and well appointed little cabins too. Honestly they're a delight in nearly every way. But the beds. My god. The double bed was dipped, thin, lumpy and the state of the sheets... I don't doubt they'd been cleaned, but incredibly old and stained. The pillows were also very thin and lumpy. The double bed was unsleepable for my partner and I, so for the next three nights we slept in the two singles. These weren't much better. The beds were so bad it put a downer on our whole stay. After a long drive and busy days, not being able to rest your body and sleep is a killer. We honestly found ourselves staying up late just avoid them. I can't overstate how bad they were. Combined with the heat 28c outside equalled 38c in the cabin we decided to bail a night early. Better an 8 hour drive overnight than even attempting to sleep in those beds in that heat. As lovely as these cabins are in every other way, we won't be coming back again. Everything is so undermined when such a core part is so severely lacking and I'm used to some pretty crap beds as I travel frequently for work. Also a note to the owners, several of the deck boards down to the hot tub are rotting and flexing heavily under weight. The veranda posts are also half rotted away. When I walked over the veranda to the table, you could feel the whole thing sway. Could be a personal injury claim within a few years if you're not careful! Overall, with a little attention paid to the beds and some TLC here and there, this would have easily been a 5 star review. The cabin was cosy, private and enjoyable in all other aspects.
Fab lodge, stunning location

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the holiday park ever time in different lodges all excellent this is the smallest lodge we have stayed in but it was just for me and my wife and again if its piece and quiet you want this is the place everything you need is in the lodge this is the perfect retreat

Third year weve visited Oakwood Lodge. The hottub this year was no where near as good as the previous 2, a great trip away just disappointed as we know how good it can be
Was beautifully clean upon our arrival, very lovely lodge, great private layout to the park with stunning views, really enjoyed our stay. Could have done with a doormat inside, not just outside, and lacked the flame effect fire in the property description, which would have added a warmer feel and focal point. That said, really very minor points, we will definitely be going back.
Allison
We booked a hot tub lodge. Our whole search focussed on having somewhere to stay with a hot tub. The hot tub in our lodge was broken as we did not get to use it at all. We were offered the use of one in a lodge up the dark hill. Did they really want us to traipse up there in towels and swims and then walk back wet? We therefore did not get the break we booked. Disappointing.
Claire
Beautiful lodge Well equipped Quiet Stunning surroundings Hot tub made it extra special Would of been nice to have a few brochures leaflets telling of place's to visit from local attractions to supermarkets.
Justyna
Lovely , clean, comfortable, beautifully located lodge. Hot tub is a great addition. Outside space and facilities great. Outside balcony space perfect for morning coffee with an amazing view. Had a lovely stay. Thank you!
We had a lovely stay in lodge 7. The lodge was well equipped and clean. The hot tub was up and ready to use straight away and we enjoyed making the most of it during our stay. We had a lovely break and would definitely recommend the lodge and return ourselves.
Lauren
Lovely little lodge, clean and comfortable nice relaxing break, Until other holiday makers think it's acceptable to leave dogs off leads, and run over to my elderly labrador who doesn't need to be growled at or need to have to defend herself. Twice this happened with 2 separate dogs. Not acceptable. Why do people assume they're dogs are great. Clearly not all dogs are friendly all of the time. Just think people need to be reminded dogs on leads at all times whilst out of lodges.
The space between the lodges was absolutely perfect very private and relaxing the exercise area for the dog was perfect
The stay was great, lovely location and set up. Slight issue with a light bulb in the lodge but was sorted promptly.
Francesca
Beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting! Hot tub was a huge plus! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
This is the first time we have done this type of holiday but it will not be the last. Really helpful staff, great lodge and location. If I had to pick a negative it would be the shower was just warm and not very powerful but it was liveable. I will be booking again. The toaster blew the fuse and the staff answered straight away and sorted the issue within 10 mins. Great holiday and we will see you again, thank you.
