The Larches Reviews

Our stay at The Larches was lovely. The lodge itself is very cosy, comfortable and clean. The hot tub was very good and Tom tended to it early each morning. We booked our stay as a family of 4 2 daughters ages 10 and 12 to reset and relax and the lodge and surroundings allowed us to do just that. Thank you to Tom and Emma you are great hosts helpful, kind and on hand should you need them but not at all intrusive.
Best view you could ever wish for .
Edward
A really special place. Amazing views, comfy and homely lodge, friendly but unobtrusive hosts. Llanidloes is a charming little village only 5 minutes drive away with all the essential amenities, and the area generally is a great base to explore midWales. We had an amazing time.
Melanie
Excellent stay here at the Larches, it really is the most stunning lodge with such gorgeous views
Anthony

Peaceful, well maintained and fabulous view, already considering returning next year

The Larches is a great place to stay in midwales. Everything was so comfortable from the bed and furniture to the hot tub to relax in. The view from the house is stunning and we really enjoyed watching all the birds which came to the feeder by the house. Llanidloes is only a 5 minute drive away providing us with all the shops and restaurants we needed, yet the Larches was surrounded by nature. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone!
Caroline
One of the best places weve stayed. Really beautiful accommodation and the surrounding area is stunning.
Andrew
Wonderful property in a wonderful location. Tom couldnt have been more helpful. The only thing I could say re improvement would be to consider providing more information on location for arrival. Perhaps consider a what3words to this end.
Everything about this property is perfect. All you could need for a good holiday, peaceful, clean, and tidy with a lovely view across the valley. Just a short drive into town where you will never need to go hungry.
Darren
Perfect place to stay . Everything was 5 star in my opinion . There is plenty to do and explore close by . No doubt we will be back .
I would recommend the larches as the location and the views of the property are ... I would recommend the larches as the location and the views of the property are stunning its so quiet and peaceful the only constructive criticism would be regarding facilities eg washing machine , to use this appliance it would be helpful if a washing line or clothes airer were provided to dry clothing
Just returned from a 2 week break at the fantastic Larches. A lovely warm welcome from Tom and Emma the owners and a lovely welcome pack was in the kitchen for us. This has been one of my favourite Sykes properties. A simply stunning lodge with wide ranging views and the all important peace and tranquility that we were looking for. An abundance of wildlife all around and on the doorstep of amazing walks. The lodge was furnished to a high spec and came with a fantastic hot tub that was checked daily by the owners. An absolutely amazing holiday in one of the finest holiday homes in the area. We will definitely be back.
A lovely and clean lodge with an out standing view. Everything you could need in a well equipped kitchen. Tv reception not always clear, but didnt bother us as we didnt need tv. Hot tub was a perfect way to relax
We loved our stay at The Larches, it was a wonderful and beautiful relaxing stay. The property is beautifully presented and was faultlessly clean. Plenty around the area to enjoy too to keep us and the kids entertained.

The lodge was absolutely beautiful with the most stunning views. My husband and I and our two daughters wanted to get away for a week to have quality time together, we all enjoyed the hot tub, the BBQ and being in a place that felt homely. The hosts were absolutely amazing, on the day we arrived late and the sat nav wouldnt work put Penclun Panoramic lodges in google maps! so the host managed to locate us and take us there. This is a family run lodge and you can see that they have put their heart and soul into the place. Thank you for looking after us and letting us stay in your beautiful lodge.
Great accommodation with a magnificent view and facilities.
William
A really relaxing break in a lovely part of the country. The accommodation was superb and we are planning to visit again.
What a fabulous stay we had! An amazing lodge set in a very picturesque setting. You wake up with the sounds of birds in the garden, The Lodge is a wonderful place to explore Clywedog from. It has everything for a holiday cottage, it is very comfortable, clean and spacious, with beautiful decor and windows, for a very smooth cosy stay, The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean, with lovely touches throughout, and the cottage is big enough for a group of 4. The owners have really thought about everything. We got lost on the way, however the hosts are very attentive, and communication is excellent. If you are looking to get away from it all and rejuvenate in beautiful location, this is perfect. With the reassurance that everything is at your doorstep when needed. then this is the place. We are truly missing the beautiful location and lodge. I wish we could have stayed longer in the Larches. This is an ideal location to explore and enjoy the great fishing at Llyn Clywedog from. Thanks Emma & Tom.

Had an amazing week at The Larches. It was everything we hoped for and more! So relaxing, amazing views, hot tub was great! Thanks so much to Tom and family for everything, we can't wait to come back!
Wow! Amazing lodge, everything you can ask for they have. It's v.well constructed, well equipped, extremely comfortable and perfect location to explore other areas. We went with our daughters aged 9 and 11, both loved it too. Hot tub was v.clean and was lovely to relax in each day and enjoy the views and watch the birds. The BBQ was great, we used it many times. It doesn't matter what the weather is like you will enjoy this lodge. When I booked this lodge I wanted a place with a view and hot tub and pet free, totally ticked all boxes and so much more! We wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts, Tom and Emma both helpful, thank you.
A gem of a find, a real treat, an excellent place to unwind. The scenery is thoroughly breathtaking with wonderful walking. Great access too, we've told friends and family about it and we will surely be back again.
Caroline
The Larches has stunning scenery and we loved watching all the birds and bunnies, it was so peaceful. The cabin was comfortable, warm, well equipped and very clean. We were able to use the cabin as a base to explore beautiful mid Wales and had some lovely days out. Tom the owner is a lovely man and couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. We loved the hot tub! Definitely wish to return.
Sandra
Stunning place to stay, everything was first class.
The best view from any lodge that we have stayed in the UK. Very friendly and responsive owners who did everything we asked and obviously took great pride in their lodges. The side shelter was great when any wind got up and we used it for every dinner, with every breakfast out at the picnic table.
Fantastic accommodation with a beautiful view and walking right on the door step. Couldn't of asked for anything better!
Sharon
The Larches is a lovely property set in a valley and leaves you feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere, that said town is only 5minutes away by car for all the essentials. We wanted to forget our hectic daily lives and completely unwind, we managed this 100 times over and thats with a 3year old in tow also. We were fortunate enough to be snowed in which wasnt an issue as we had planned on doing very little and had stocked up. The lodge is equipped so you can easily cook a full roast if you wish. The owners also offered to get some essentials and Tom rescued us one day when we had a snowy walk, he came to see that we were okay as he knew we had the little one with us. There are things to do if you want to venture out or there are walks from the lodge and the reservoir is close by. The hot tub, the snow, the starry sky and getting away from normality was exactly what we wanted. Thank you to the owners who were there if needed though also didnt invade our privacy.
Catherine
The Larches was a beautiful property in a gorgeous setting with spectacular views. We had a lovely warm welcome from Tom who showed us around the property. Goodies were left for us which was a nice touch. The property was exceptionally clean, warm & comfortable with pretty decor. Very well equipped to make evening dinners etc. There is an undercover seating area to the side of the property which is brilliant if weather not so good & a gas BBQ to enjoy. Lovely to sit in the hot tub watching all the birds & listening to the owl on moonlit nights! Very peaceful & a great property to relax in. Thank you Tom, Emma & family for everything
My husband and I had a lovely warm welcome from Tom the owner. The Larches is an outstanding lodge set in a spectacular location and is immaculately kept. It is beautifully fitted out to an extremely high standard, all quality fixtures and fittings, the beds and sofas were really comfortable, lots of fluffy towels, even bath robes were provided for us to use. The lodge is set in the hills and the views are breathtaking, it was so quiet and peaceful, no light pollution at night while looking at the stars from the hot tub a perfect way to end the day. We throughly enjoyed this superb lodge for a relaxing week, we will definitely return. Thank you Tom and Emma for the thoughtful box of goodies you provided they were much appreciated.
Charlotte
I was looking for a short stay in Wales where me and my husband and children could relax and explore the outdoors. When I saw the pictures of the views from this lodge I know this place would be amazing. As soon as I booked, I received lots of useful information for our stay. I was also contacted by the owner who was very friendly and made sure we knew where we were going and had everything we needed. When we arrived, the views were not disappointing. We were met by the owner and shown around. The lodge was stunning, very clean and had everything we needed. The owner told us of places we could visit and was extremely friendly. I would 100 recommend this place to family and friends and anyone looking for a relaxing break. Waking up in the morning, having a cup of tea and listening to the cows and sheep was lovely. It was unbelievably quite and just perfect. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday home. We hope to be back real soon. Charlotte, David, Olivia and James

From the moment we arrived until the minute we regrettably had to leave this amazing property we had an amazing relaxing holiday. Couldnt fault a thing to be honest.Hot tub was great, Relaxing watching the birds on the feeder was so enjoyed by all And the view was just WOW !!! Tom and Emma where so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back Easily the best Sykes property we have stayed in. Chris and Emma,Abbie and Josh.
We had a wonderful week at the Larches. The views from the patio are stunning and the location so peaceful yet only 5 minutes drive from Llanidloes. The accommodation was lovely, clearly a lot of care had gone into the design. The welcome pack was a great touch too. Thank you for a wonderful week.
What more can I say that has not already been said. This is a fabulous property, everything that you could want including the views. Also very nice and considerate owners. Definitely recommended.
An absolutely fabulous property with the most spectacular views and amazing hot tub. The property is spotlessly clean with every amenity you could wish for in a holiday cottage. The property photos dont do it justice. If you are after peace and tranquility this is the place whilst also being very close to a lovely little town. The bird feeders were kept topped up by the owners which is a lovely touch and we were able to watch a family of greater spotted woodpeckers feeding from them daily. Fabulous! Cant wait to return!
George
Been holidaying in the uk two to three times a year for the last twenty years or so and first time we have stayed in a lodge, a friendly helpful owner and his daughter Emma I cannot praise them enough a wonderful cottage with a stunning view and very clean , well equipped, it would be in the top 3 of all the properties we have stayed and we will return which we have only done once before.
Stuart
Everything was perfect. We had a brilliant time and can't wait to return. Fantastic accommodation with everything you could need and more, such a lovely place. Great hosts with so much local knowledge. Amazing views to enjoy while relaxing in the hot tub. Lots to do nearby, some great walks with amazing views. Nice shopsbakerysbutchers just down the road. We will be back for sure.

This was by far one of the best holidays IWe have ever been on. The cabin itself could not have been any better. It had everything we needed, never really felt a moment of oh we need this. The cabin is beautiful, and the views..its something you only see in movies or magazines. If you get chance to stay at this property you've truly hit the jackpot. I proposed to my girl friend and she said YES! So this place will now forever hold a special place in our hearts, and I hope we can stay again in the future. Everything on the description is correct, could not be anymore black and white.
Caroline
We booked the Larches for my elderly parents. It was perfect. It was pristine but very comfortable for their stay and the view is outstanding. Id say it would be great for all ages. We would happily book again.
