Trout Cottage Reviews

Murray
This was our second stay of the year although previously we were in the adjoining Salmon Cottage and as before, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cottage is comprehensively equipped and lovely and warm doubtless we'll be staying again at some not too distant future point. Excellent.
Lovely little property, well located
The hosts were great. The welcome pack was a nice touch.idealy situated in mid wales, near the elan valley and devils bridge.good walks around the property and by the river.fishing is also nearby.Rhayader is a nice small old style market town 2 miles north.i had two weeks of peace and tranqulity very relaxing.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
This is our second visit to Trout Cottage and it did not disappoint. Its a lovely relaxing spot with walking track, gardens and plenty of bird life, plus the added bonus of fly fishing on the river Wye. Thank you to hosts Jonathan and Chee.
Geraint
Very accommodating hosts who are always welcoming and helpful. This is our 3rd visit and have always had a comfortable, peaceful stay with the lovely river walk and beautiful surroundings where you can bird watch all day long. A treasured little haven from a hectic world
We had a lovely week the weather was good and the cottage was excellent. We loved all the work that has been done to both the gardens and the cottages since our last visit. It was wonderful to watch all the birds and wild life from the cottage door. The lady garden was very helpful in identifying some of the bushes and trees. Just a small thing a couple of egg cups and a oven dish with a lid for casseroles would good.. We will return in the autumn.
It was very cosy and accessible for someone with mobility issues. Good to know that the property was heated by means of a heat pump and was well insulated. The location was peaceful and good for birdwatching.
Susanne
Sad to leave this special place and charming Jonathan and Chee
Trout Cottage has everything you need for a truly relaxing break. The kitchen is very well equipped , the beds very comfortable, the sofa and armchairs too. Would thoroughly recommend. The cottage has been totally refurbished and was spotlessly clean. The location was very peaceful and we watched woodpeckers and jays feeding every morning. Lovely stroll along the river and easy access by car to the local towns.
Great little cottage, well equipped, comfortable, light and airy. Set in lovely manicured grounds. Situated a short walk from a most beautiful stretch of the river Wye. The 20 weekly fly fishing ticket is great value and its great fun trying to catch the pretty brown trout. I had a fantastic week. Many thanks to the owners.

All in all a ery pleasant stay with Jonathan and Chee thank you very much for ... All in all a ery pleasant stay with Jonathan and Chee thank you very much for making Sheila and I welcome in the Lovely Trout Cottage
Trout Cottage is nestled on the most gorgeous Estate with the River Wye metres away which is honestly breathtaking to look at, the cottages are newly refurbished and are honestly perfect they easily exceeded my expectations the photos do not do them justice at all. Equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable staycation. Location could not have been any better, minutes away from Rhayader in the car and a 12 minute drive from Elan Valley, which is an absolute must see as well as easily reaching the coat and Devils Bridge Falls in less than a hour. I cannot fault Our stay, thanks Jonathan and Chee.
A very tired property, with sagging furniture and chipped crockery. Three mugs only available, the drying rack was dirty and rusty, and all the controls on the cooker somewhat greasy to the touch.. The shower failed on three consecutive nights, at different times. The owner noted to us that this had never happened before, but that did not affect the fact or provide us with running hot water. The location is excellent, but not the standard of the property. We did not get what we paid for, especially with regard to hot water.
Robert
Hosts were very welcoming. Beautifully situated in a peaceful area and minutes from Rhayader, where there are general facilities.
We had a great week early September. Excellent location nice to walk along the river and watch birds & fish. Friendly and helpful host, with good hints for daytrips e.g. Elan Valley, Gigrin Farm Red Kites, Machynlleth, HayonWye, etc. Internet a bonus. Safe to say we would return.
A beautiful and peaceful place to have a relaxed break. Ideally situated for traveling and exploring Mid Wales. Trout Cottage was cosy and I was made to feel very welcome. Would recommend.
Really peaceful location and beautiful countryside.
Jeremy

Suzanne
Absolutely the best decision we made this year Trout Cottage was way above our expectations and was just what we needed.
Trout Cottage Is in an ideal peaceful location, right on the river Wye, birdlife amazing. Property had main essentials left for you including anti bac sprays etc and was lovely and clean. Owners Jonathan and Ghee and Freddie the dog most welcoming.
Michael Roland
THIS SMALL ESTATE BY THE RIVER WYE IS A SMALL PART OF PARADISE, WITH 3 OTHER LARGER COTTAGES TO RENT IF YOU NEED MORE ACCOMMODATION. APART FROM SOME ROAD NOISE IT IS PEACE AND TRANQUILITY WITH VERY FRIENDLY OWNERS.
Lovely spot and very comfortable . And a warm reception by Johnathon and Ghee area is lovely .hope we get back sometime
Very enjoyable week in the Wye Valley. A nice comfortable and clean cottage, good hosts.
The surroundings were beautiful, the french windows meant just siting looking was a pleasure, we lost count of the number of bird species we saw. The lack of internet and mobile phone signals just made the holiday more restful. It was a great place for visiting Aberyswyth, Carmarthen, Brecon, Ludlow, Hereford, Worcester, Shrewsbury and all places in between. The real highlight was the nearby Red Kite feeding station of Gilgrin. Amazing.
Owners went above and beyond to make us welcome trout cottage was lovely enjoyed the 2 weeks holiday
Kelvin
Great location for late holiday due to time of year, natural surroundings and wild life. Hope to return next year around mid October.
Raymond
