The Barn Reviews

Absolutely beautiful barn conversion, clean, tidy, well stocked with cleaning products, hand wash, bin bags, tissues etc. The accommodation was much bigger than expected too.
Nicola
Our second stay at The Barn. Plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 dogs. A cosy place to stay and had everything we needed. Close to beautiful country side and lovely places to visit. We would definitely stay again.
Alexander
Very nice property and in a great location
It's a lovely barn it is in a convenient place for Abergavenny and Brecon. It is a comfortable place to stay, warm and cosy, although the living room would benefit from wooden floors rather than carpet. It is also looking tired so maybe brought upto date. The tv was also a little awkward to sort out, because when you turned on the sky box and the tv, you got sound but no picture.
Richard
The Barn is located down a small lane between Crickhowell and Abergavenny. Very quiet and peaceful. The accommodation is clean, a good size and the lay out is well designed for 24 people. The kitchen is a good size and had all the equipment you need to make meals. My only small negative feedback is that some items in the Barn were looking tired e.g. lampshade in the main bedroom but it doesnt take away too much from the entire experience which was good.
The host are very nice and welcoming But the property needs a whole redec , new carpets and sofas etc Pretty much needs modernisation Everything shabby and out dated as well as the appliances. Walk ways advertise in advert now not accessible , which was disappointing with dog But still enjoyed stay .
Lovely place very quiet had most things we needed but missing a bbq perhaps because of the dry field conditions around. Also agree a sign at the bottom of the lane would be helpful when coming from Brecon
Claire
The property was generally in good condition. There was a bit of dust around windows and the fan in the bathroom. The velux windows needed blinds to make it darker at night and anyone outside could see in if walking past. The towels were not made for the larger person. Bath sheets needed. My nimble spaniel could escape out of the side of the garden through slats in gatefence. But otherwise very dog friendly. Unfortunately, the path from the cottage to Sugarloaf mountain was too overgrown to use. Unfortunately again, the 2 pubs in walking distance were both closed, which was a shame too, so I had to drive everywhere. Maybe a sign outside the farm on the main road would make the cottage easier to find too. Overall we had a lovely weekend and the cottage and location was great
Robert
Good accommodation, met our needs and would stay again.
Andrew
A nice converted barn that could be nicer , Interior furniture is dated and tv a bit small for what is quite a large lounge. Didn't effect us but no blinds on roof windows in second bedroom. Garden furniture is also in need of replacing as weather worn, garden is smaller than it appears in the pictures. Otherwise a nice place that could do with an update on a working farm in a good location for the area.
Lovely cottage. Spacious and comfortable in an excellent location. Great walking and good pubs nearby. Kitchen well equipped and entertainment for all. Would love to come back again.
Cottage fine, TV slightly confusing too many steps to get anything! Double bed a bit too soft for me. Disappointing that the nearby paths were so overgrown we couldn't use them not that we expect the cottage owner to do anything about it.
Amazing barn with all the comforts needed.
Our second time staying here and once again we loved it , the property itself is clean and tidy and well presented with ample space and gorgeous surroundings. Only things we would suggest as future upgrades would be a larger bed, we pushed two singles together as the double was tiny, and a larger shower head. Generally tho we love this place and the surrounding area .

The stay was wonderful. We had to use the washing machine but there was no instructions also the microwave perhaps this could be rectified.
Good clean, nice stay. go back again.
Good breakaway. nice place to stay. clean and tidy.
Andreas
A really nice and big cottage. Everything is like dicribed,2 Terraces. Good for exploring the Arena. Hope to come back again
We absolutely loved our stay here, we found the facilities to be more than perfect everything we could have possible needed was provided including leaflets for nearby attractions etc. This barn is BEAUTIFUL
Angela Davies
Loved it , would love to come back so peaceful and pubs within walking distance and Abergavenny 5 minutes drive, cottage had everything and lovely comfy bed . Thanks
What a lovely place to stay, only 3 miles from Abergavenny. Plenty of stunning walks around the cottage. The owners just leave you to your own devices but were always around if you wanted them. Would definitely recommend the barn to others.
The Barn is in a great location for accessing Brecon Beacons. However, as some of the previous reviews have suggested, it's in need of some updating. Rear garden is fully enclosed but there may be sheep in surrounding fields. Unable to sit outside at front due to strong smell of oil from tank.
On first glance everything looked OK. Kitchen facilities were good, fridge clean . Space was fantastic. Location good. Not so good lounge carpet is so worn and stained . Beds too soft. Shower screen was not clean ingrained water marks across it all. Obviously not cleaned for months plus seal at bottom that old was disintegrating. All sink taps and plughole dirty underneath. Throughout the property hundreds of cobwebs and spiders especially around windows and corners. Leather chair in lounge spilt across seat. Whole property could do with a thorough spring clean.
Excellent in every respect! !
Helen.
It's the second time at the Barn. Beautiful setting. We were very comfortable, we had everything we needed. Fabulous. Thank you.
Michael
The Ward family were so kind in their hospitality allowing us special conditions to have my wife's family come to see us at the Barn. We are forever grateful to Windy for her understanding and generosity in letting us catch up after not seeing family for 10 years. Kindest regards, Michael & Angela Phillips
Louise
Thank you for the stay, the fan in the bottom loo wasn't working. We had a relaxing time, even got out between the rain showers. Louise and Martin

Samantha
Great ! Everything we needed had been thought of.
Lovely barn to stay at. Great walks and things to do.
We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at The Barn. Its a very peaceful and relaxing place, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Abergavenny and Crick Howell are both good to visit and are only three or four miles away. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful when I spoke to her then left us to get on with holiday. The cottage was very clean and everything was there that we needed. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday.
Peaceful and relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped property. Well located for Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, Wye Valley etc. Would definitely return if in the area.
Bettina
Beautiful cottage very cosy, well equipped had a lovely relaxing holiday, owner ... Beautiful cottage very cosy, well equipped had a lovely relaxing holiday, owner was very helpful and friendly, highly recommend
The cottage was extremely comfortable and very welcoming. Location is perfect for walking and visiting nearby towns and attractions. Hosts were very helpful and welcoming without being intrusive. Parking right outside cottage. We will look forward to returning in the future.
The property was spacious, clean and in a beautiful setting. It is in an a good situation for visiting the Brecons. From the picture we anticipated a larger garden area but the garden was a narrow strip behind the property. The front of the property is available for guests to sit out but the open space directly in front of the property is for cars, and horse vans so not ideal. This was disappointing, as we had a child and two dogs with us. The outdoor chairs and table need varnishing or replacing . We didnt use them as they looked so worn and dingy . This wasnt great considering the lovely views we had around us. Guests need to follow the Sykes directions exactly as the Sat nav wont help. The entrance is concealed on a busy road.
The location and barn was lovely and we had a super stay there. The host was also very sweet and hospitable. The only thing that could have been a bit better was the tv which did not work very often as it kept asking for a card. Nevertheless, we watched some of the super videos and got into Harry Potter for the stay! I would definitely stay here again as it was very convenient for everywhere we wanted to go. As well as having a walk up to the Sugarloaf which we did not have time for this trip Lovely memories though and a super location.
Overall an excellent place to stay , had a lovely break there, beautiful scenery and so peaceful, my dogs loved it ! Host was very friendly and welcoming. Cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. You do need a car if you want to explore the local area but there are plenty of places to see, would definitely return.
