Hillside View Reviews

Alison
The cooking utensils and pans aren't great and quite limited. The radiator didn't work in the double bed room. The heating times can't be changed. Cobwebs we're a plenty Other than this it was good. The staff were amazing, we went while it was snowing and the pushed us when we got stuck! They dropped our bags to the cabin when my car was too small to get up close.
Take our 16 year old dog away for the last 4years to escape the fireworks, absolute silence ,great area and lovely lodges and will be returning next year.
Deborah
Great family break 5 adults, the lodge is lovely very clean beds are comfy, on arrival the hot tub was hot, the only down side was the frying pan everything sticks to it including sausages. We will definitely be returning next year.
Hayley
The log cabin was absolutely beautiful and the location is stunning. It was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The only issue we had was the hot tub wasnt working properly. The jets would only work intermittently and Saturday night it wouldnt turn on at all, which was really disappointing considering we were only there for the weekend so we really didnt get our moneys worth at all. We did contact the owner on Saturday evening but there was no response. Other than the hot tub issue, we loved our stay.
Michelle
Beautiful lodge very clean and tidy lovely setting stunning surroundings really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend a few more towels though and maybe a corkscrew for the utilities that would be my only quibble
Beautiful property places in in more stunning area we loved it. We only had issue as a garden even is very privately, bushes around is not closed fence so our dog always when going out was on the lead. Also kitchens could have more equipment, but we managed. Definitely we will back very relaxing places where you can charge your batteries
Michael
There was an issue with the property, however this was sorted out. Things can go wrong at anytime, but Hannah at Oakwood Lodges was really helpful with sorting the issues out. The lodge was really nice and is in a really nice hillside plot, and the garden was really private.
Matthew
Property itself was exactly what we wanted lovely little lodge in next to no where. The view was lovely, all the things you could need, oven, kettle, hot tub! Downsides, im a big bloke and the mattress wasnt the nicest. We was having a relaxing day in but maintenance work next to our lodge ruined that. I understand jobs need to be done but look at your bookings, try and plan when people arent on a relaxing break. Sound of a petrol strimmer for 4 hours isnt really 'chill'. The road to the lodges needs a little tlc, bit bouncy. The negatives been said how ever, we would probably return, id just sleep in the hot tub.
We had a great week away at Hillside view. The location is great, a short drive from Rhayader which has lovely places to eat and lots of great walks in that area. It is a very peaceful site with lovely views of surrounding countryside. The lodge was a good size and plenty of space for 3 of us and our 2 dogs. The heating worked well and it was nice and cozy. The hot tub made the week, although was not very hot when we arrived however once we figured out how to increase the temperature it was wonderful. The lodge is equipped with basics but may be worth noting you need to take things like salt n pepper, coffee, tea etc and soap for the bathroom as nothing is provided. On the whole it is a great place to stay however there were a few things that could do with maintenance or updating as follows The double bed was not comfortable, you could feel the springs, it could do with a new mattress, my Mum stated the single beds were comfortable though. There is nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletries and appears as if there was something in the shower for this but it had broken. There are only 4 chairs outside and the lodge is for 6. There was only 3 of is so it was no problem for us however it would also have been nice to have cushions for them as they are not comfortable to sit out on for longer periods. There is no cleaning products and only a tall brush and dustpan and brush. The hot tub lid was tricky to get on and off and took two of us to do it, we think there was a bit broken that it should have rested on and would maybe have made it easier. There was also one seat in it that did not have jets working and the lights did not work either. The TV and WiFi was poor but we expected that might be the case in the countryside. These are all little things really and it just needs a bit of maintenance however on the whole we had a lovely time and we and the dogs really enjoyed the stay.
Edward
Absolute lovely place. The lodges look amazing. Shame I got the runt! There is an amazing view of the hills, but the unkempt 16ft hedge does a great job of blocking it completely. The lodge and hot tub were probably amazing when they were built 20 years ago, but they have not been touched since. We did have a great holiday but the lodge was not worth the cost. Ok if you want basic.
The property was a great stay, we had a lovely holiday and did not want to leave. All basic kitchen necessities were provided. Hot tub was a great. Outside garden was lovely, only we did not enjoy it that unfortunately as the sun did not shine that much during our stay. Would only suggest to add maybe a curtain on the glass door by the kitchen as we did not feel private enough. Although the property was surrounded by bushes we felt this was not enough. Overall, we had a great stay and would love to go back with other family.
The property was very clean and comfortable everything in the property was very ... The property was very clean and comfortable everything in the property was very well presented the bushes where to high so we had no views from the deched balcony we loved the bench on the top of the field great views and we loved the swing in the forest we were like big kids all in all we had a great holiday
Cabin was lovely , peaceful and comfortable . Only 1 minor issue and that was the oven .. it took ages to warm up and and cook anything , could do with updating .
Fantastic view and everything we needed to relax with our kids. Very keen to come back. Wooden buildings have little noise insulation so be prepared if you want privacy.
Loved the lodge and the view hot tub was great and so warm and clean would book again we wanted to stay and the town rhyadr has everything u need plenty of pubs servings good food our fave was the lamb and flag pub on the high street . Indian and Chinese takeaway fish and chips I could go on all day
My partner and I stayed at Hillside View from 23rd 26th November when the temperature hit 2, but when we arrived the heating was on and the lodge was lovely and warm for us. The hot tub was the perfect addition in the cold weather, perfect for relaxing. The lodge itself was spacious, there was plenty of space in the kitchen, the bathroom was a great size with separate shower and bath, and plenty of hanging space for clothes. The only thing that was missing was a full length mirror! The view from the lodge in the morning was simply breath taking, and we discovered a bench at the top of the hill behind the lodge that provided even more incredible views. Our sat nav took us through the village roads on the way there, however, on the way back we discovered that we could have taken all A roads to the location, apart from the road leading up to the site, so if you are travelling here, make sure to check the route before travelling! The location was peaceful and quiet, and we even had 4 cats visit us who were super friendly which was great as we are cat lovers! There is a local Coop down the road and Tesco about 15 minutes away, so there are great facilities close by for anything you need. We were looking for a relaxing weekend break and that is exactly what we got. We had a great stay, and whether you are a couple or a family, we highly recommend staying here.
Philip
Excellent place to go would definitely recommend it and we will go back again shortly
Very clean, everything you would need fantastic views, peaceful and a great hot tub. No faults.
Louise
We had a lovely 5 days stay here, would definitely return thank you
Stephen
Suggestions to improve The roadway up to lodges 9 etc is very uneven and not easy to grip. Could you provide a tray, there can be six people staying and carrying glasses cups out to the balcony is a chore.
We really enjoyed our stay. Yes the lodge is a looking a little tired but it was just what we needed. It was immaculately clean. And had all the equipment needed in the kitchen. There were plenty of towels however I would recommend taking spares for the hot tub. We stayed in lodge 9 which was perfect with a dog as the garden was fairly enclosed. There is a dog gate on the balcony which was perfect for leaving the doors open so our cocker spaniel didnt go walk about. The hot tub was perfect and even better it has a roof so you dont have to worry about the rain. The hot tub lid had seen better days but it did the job. All in all I would definitely revisit this little gem.
Amazing location. Accommodation was lovely and clean. WiFi connection was poor which would be ok if this has been stated. Mirrors in the bedroom are needed Pressure on shower was poor. This is just hopefully constructive feedback as we had an amazing 2 days and would return and recommend to others
Jasmine
It was a beautiful place with very friendly, helpful staff. The mattresses need updating as us and our children could feel the springs but they were ok with an extra blanket added underneath. The hot tub water didn't look as clean as it could have but we were happy overall and would staybook with these people again.
Great place to stay Very relaxing
There are about 14 lodges on this site, and over the last 15 years when it opened with the first four we have stayed in almost all of them. This is the third owner You now never meet anyone on the site from the minute you arrive to leaving, picking up a key off a desk and the point I want to make is the lodges and site are really now tired. Three examples, the curtains are original and numerous examples of not hangingclosing correctly. Lid on hot tub completely off its hinges almost impossible to remove. Bed mattresses are sub standard. Numerous doors do not close correctly. I could go on but the point is that the lodges are so tired they are now not value for money. There is a lot more competition in the area and judging by the number that were vacant the repeat business has declined. We love the area but will not be returning to this site.
Great place will be visiting again
Antonio
Really enjoyed staying at lodge 9, lovely warm place, views were amazing and hot tub to top it all off. Thank you
Louise
Absolute bliss
Serish
Loved the stay, had everything we needed. Staff were lovely and very helpful
Absolutely brilliant! Had an amazing stay, thank you.
Catherine
I will definitely come again with my friends thank you
The tv control wasnt working properly, we had issues with the toaster as it didnt work kept tripping the electric the hot tub was just enough for 4 people and not 6 surely they could have put us In a lodge which had a bigger hot tub , could have had another bathroom or toilet as it was a rush to use it as there was only one bathroom. The area and the lodge were very good
Nichola
We were told that they were going to check the levels of the hot tub every day but they didn't come once which resulted in one of us getting a really bad rash on her back.
Gwenno
The cabin itself is a little dated and only supplied the bare minimum
It was an amazing weekend. The wooden house is beautiful and the view is spectacular. Everything we needed to cook utensils was in the kitchen, bath towels and sheets in the rooms too. It was so lovely that we didn't want to leave at all. Very relaxing . Thank you .
