The Old Farmhouse Reviews

Suzanne
Absolutely 5 holiday at this beautiful farmhouse with extended family. Everything we could wish for from start to finish. Plenty of space for everyone and the beds were soo comfy! Really warm and cosy with the log burners. The owner couldnt have been more helpful, a big thank you! Would not hesitate to return.
Gordon
Our 2nd christmas at the Old Farmhouse. Beautiful, spacious house surrounded by lovely countryside, Great hosts, readily available to sort any hicups. Look forward to returning in the future.
Excellent place to stay. The house is situated in a beautiful rural setting, has 5 bedrooms and the living room and kitchen are large enough for a group to be comfortable. The wood fire is a bonus. Steven, the host was very friendly and made us feel at home. Would recommend this property to anyone.
Top quality house, beautifully kept.
The photos on the website do not do this house justice it was spotlessly clean and comfortable and set in an idyllic landscape which was so peaceful and quiet.
Stephen
A beautiful house in an idyllic location. Spacious rooms with the advantage of a ground floor bedroom and bathroom. Everything you could possible want is available. The owner, who lives nearby, was welcoming and informative about places to visit. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at The Old Farm House.
We have just returned from a fabulous week at The Farmhouse. We were a party of 7 spanning multiple generations and the house catered for us all. It had everything you could imagine and more. Waking up every morning to the most perfect view of the countryside was spectacular. Our little dog loved running around the big garden and saying hello to the cows and sheep that came up to the fence. The owner brought us a beautiful Welsh cake when we arrived which we all enjoyed. Thank you for a lovely week.
We stayed at the Old Farmhouse as a family group, six of us plus two young children. It was perfect! Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We were lucky enough to have good weather and being outside was a treat with plenty of space and seating. Recommended for family get to gethers
Pictures absolutely do not do the farmhouse justice, nor the setting. Both the farmhouse and especially the situation surrounding valley and hills are incredibly pretty, and very peaceful. The hosta are very friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back. Maybe do Christmas there with the family.

Beautifully presented, extremely comfortable house in a stunning setting with gorgeous views across the valley of rolling hills, patchwork fields, woodland and grazing cattle. So peaceful and relaxing. In an area of dark skies so got great views of the Perseid meteor shower.

This is a lovely spacious property both inside and out. It's a great place for families to stay and the children had lots of safe freedom to play. The views are amazing and there are plenty of places nearby to explore and enjoy. The only downside is the lane up to the property. Turning right out of the property is better than turning left because the lane is long, and there are very few passing points if you do meet a vehicle coming up which happened to us just a couple of times. But if you want the views then that's the sacrifice but it as well to be warned if you are a nervous driver!
Had a fabulous holiday at the old farmhouse. The property is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well very equipped, everything you need to prepare and cook meals. When we arrived a calf had just been born in the field next to the cottage. My Granddaughter loved been outside looking at the cows and sheep and playing in the enclosed garden. Although there was only five of us, there is plenty of room to accommodate ten. Three different sitting areas if you want a bit of solitude. Knighton is only a five minute car journey and the co op supermarket has everything you need to fill your cupboards. Although the cottage is a bit isolated there are still plenty of places to visit in under 1 hour. We visited Ralph court gardens, good for adults and children. My Granddaughter loved the dinosaurs there. We also went to the Warren at Hay in Wye.. We had a picnic there and paddled in the river. I do advise water footwear though the pebbles are very slimey. The small breeds farm at Kingston is a great place with young children. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and would definitely visit again. Thankyou Steve the farmer for making us feel very welcome.
Great property situated in a quiet tranquil location, surrounded by well kept gardens on all sides. Great for kids & also wild life is abundant. The interior is spacious, comfortable & very clean. The kitchen is large & has the best selection of equipment I have ever seen in a cottage rental, so cooking is easy no matter what you want to create. I suppose the only thing it lacks is a slow cooker which would help you get ahead of the game & allow you to take longer days out visiting the superb locations that surround this property such as Ludlow with it's castle & beautiful church & Shrewsbury with its great town, river tours, pubs, restuarants etc etc. One very local attraction which is not to missed is The Judges Lodgings at Prestaine, not much else to see in this tiny village, but this attraction should not be missed as it is excellent if you love wandering about old houses. If you decide to visit this property situated in beautiful countryside, I hope you have as good a time as we did. There also is a large Coop supermarket situated in Knightsbridge which is about 2 miles away which has all that you need shopping wise. There is a downstairs bedroom with a bathroom across the hall but also 2 rather large steps, one to get up to the level to the main lounge & another to get up to the kitchen level, so I don't know how this would work internally for disabled people, but externally there is a slope to take you directly to the lower bedroom area & the rear of the property which would avoid one of the steps. So it might work for you dependant on your situation Anyway we loved it thats is all I can say to finish.
We loved our stay here. This was our 2nd year at the property.
We had an excellent family stay at the Old Farmhouse with 3 generations enjoying the fantastic location. There is plenty of space and the facilities are good although best to be aware that the internet speed is fairly slow. The owner brought his old tractor round to show the toddler in our group which was great and we all enjoyed seeing the livestock in the surrounding fields. We were also surprised by how much there was to do in the area which we'd never visited before definitely worth going to if you aren't familiar with it.
Lovely place views everything that you need amazing kitchen beds comfortable
Gordon
Delighted with beautiful house, ideal size for our family at Xmas in amazing position. Booked again for next Xmas. Have had Xmas houses for 8 years, this is best so far. Hope to come back in summer.

The Old Farmhouse is in an idyllic position with rolling views. We were treated to French Partridge and pheasants in the garden with Red Kites soaring over head. The property has lots of space with comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. This would make a perfect getaway from it all destination. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the view.
Charlotte
We were absolutely thrilled by The Old Farmhouse a historic building with original beams, imaginatively renovated with highspecification utilities and providing the most beautiful views. Useful stairgate for our sleepwalking child. Heating was cosy less so in the downstairs bedroom, although the excellent shower room adjacent compensated! The wood burner in the main sitting room made a lovely atmosphere on 3 of our evenings. The grass area outside was useful for the children. It was nice to have welcoming flowers the barabrith and butter awaiting our arrival on the big kitchen table were delicious and much appreciated too! All 3 generations loved the place. Well worth the steep drive up Pitts Lane!
Lovely house set in some beautiful, tranquil countryside. The log burners kept us all really cosy. Great space and facilities for a large group.
We had a fantastic time, the cottage was perfect for our extended family get together, with plenty of room for everyone and in gorgeous setting. Loads of space for the kids to romp about, whilst the grown ups could relax and enjoy the peace. The cottage itself is in wonderful condition and is supplied with everything you could want. The hosts were attentive and communicative without being in any way intrusive. Would definitely recommend and hope we can get there again some time!

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Farm House. It was the perfect location for a catch up with old friends. A house in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of space to be together or retreat as needed, as well as interesting places to go and see if we felt like being out and about. We will be back!
Loved our week as a family group. Children really enjoyed running about in the garden in a safe environment. Kitchen had everything required for catering for a large group. Beautiful countryside and quiet location only a short drive from town.
Delightful property. Downstairs bedroom very private. Good bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Nice garden spaces. Friendly helpful owners. Excellent nature watching. Darkskies for star gazing. Good local food options.
The Old Farmhouse is a brilliant place for a week. The accommodation was spotless and as a family of 6 we found no faults at all! The layout, contents and equipment was all first class. The beds so incredibly comfortable! The setting is so peaceful and the sunsets just magical with a choice of at least 4 areas to view them from. The farmer was very friendly. We highly recommend this property and we found plenty to do as a family although we all loved it when we returned to The Old Farmhouse each day.
Philippa
Absolutely wonderful house for a reunion of old school friends. Ladies requiring comfort and cleanliness and we got it in spades. The photos dont do justice to this gorgeous house and we all loved it and the area. Wonderful views and walking on tap.
Perfect property for kids, adults, babies and dogs! A beautiful setting and plenty to do in the area. The kitchen was well equipped. The property was very clean. The owners are wonderful helpful, friendly and even bought Minty the sheep round for the kids the stroke!!
Very rural and experience. If you want to get away from the city and be amongst nature and farming, this is the place.
We had a fabulous time at the old farmhouse. The house has spectacular views across the countryside which can be enjoyed from the garden and from the big window in the living room. The house has all the facilities we needed for a large family gathering, with the wonderful farmhouse kitchen being kitted out really well. The owners were welcoming and accommodating and even brought some new born lambs for the grandchildren to cuddle. We would highly recommend the old farmhouse and would love to go again.

Our holiday at the old farm house was fabulous, so clean comfortable and welcoming . Unfortunately the weather wasnt very kind to us but having a lovely warm house to come back to was a bonus and enjoyed the log burner in the evenings, the views from the house were beautiful so relaxing and were lucky to see lambs being born and a baby calf only a few days old in the fields surrounding the house. Steve the farmer was great with the children and brought some newborns right to the house so we could see them up close and thank you Steve for our interesting chats! We all enjoyed the bara brith and the fresh flowers left for us. We are a family ranging from 10 years to 77 years and all enjoyed the space, comfort and facilities of the Old Farm House and would recommend it for a fabulous holiday The Mitchell family
We had an absolutely lovely time at The Old Farmhouse. Thank you for making your beautiful property available for us to rent, for the comfortable interior and beautifully managed exterior and Thank you for the generous hospitality and kindness shown to us while we were there. We felt free and relaxed enough to enjoy our time together as a family, but confident if we had any questions or queries they would be answered swiftly and openly. The Gentleman we chatted to as and when we needed anything, was very warm, friendly and helpful & his help and knowledge was very much appreciated. Overall a lovely stay in a beautiful house.
A very well appointed and comfortable cottage which provided every need for our party of 10. The Christmas decorations were a bonus for our celebration of a significant birthday for one of our group, and New Year as well. There was ample parking for all our cars we had gathered from various parts of the country. The views from the cottage are spectacular, even in the rain! Thanks again for a wonderful week.
We had a great Christmas at the Old Farmhouse. It's a lovely big house very comfortable beds and views from every window. Decorations had been put up for Christmas and the two woodburners really added to the festive feel. The garden was great for our two labradors enclosed and safe to let them run around. There was a storm while we were there and Stephen, from the farm, came over the following day to check that all was well. It's a lovely area and everyone we met was friendly and welcoming including the people who look after the house, the neighbours and in the shops in the town. The house is situated up a narrow lane, but it's a quiet lane and we only really came across the postman, so it wasn't a problem and approaching from the road to the south was even quieter. We all said we'd love to return in warmer months to be able to enjoy the garden more.
A beautiful cottage in amazing surroundings! The area is really lovely with plenty of nearby walks to explore. The cottage itself is very well equipped and the beds are super comfy. On the cloudless nights we had probably some of the best views of the stars I've seen in years as there is very little light pollution in the area, it's great for star gazing. We had a very relaxing stay thank you Elizabeth!
Fabulous house in a stunning setting. High quality fixtures and furnishings couldn't fault it and spotless . Elizabeth very helpful pre arrival re bed configuration etc and Stephen from the farm very helpful. Highly recommend.
Audrey
Warm welcome from Stephen to a beautiful holiday home. The house was lovely the view was amazing! The dog friendly aspect was exceptional, bowls, blankets, toys, and a luxury bed! The superb weather was a bonus so much that for two days we did not explore the area we just sat outside and enjoyed that gorgeous view. The Bara Brith and flowers in the house added to the welcome thanks for sharing The Old Farmouse.
