Seren Lodge Reviews

Sharon
Good points Lovely lodge . Beautiful view . Downside dishwasher doesnt work this was our 2nd visit and didnt work on first visit either . Coffee machine didnt work . Unable to get heating to work on last day so had no hot water .
A beautiful modern lodge in a picturesque location. Very comfortable. Sadly we had a few issues which may seem trivial but were unnecessaryon arrival we found dirty towels and previous guests clothes in the wardrobe.General buildingDIY materials in wardrobes, cupboards on shelves and in the lounge. The grill tray was dirty. Ice lollies in the freezer. Dishwasher didn't work. Reported to the caretaker and to Sykes and was never rectified. On arrival patio furniture was left exposed to the elements. Overall we felt that the property was unmanaged and needs the owners to use it and identify the missed equipment and attention to detail. There was no welcome booklet indicating rubbish location disposal points and emergency procedures. Also lacked instructions for all appliances ie Washing Machine. Finally we would like to say,why have details of caretakers contact when nothing happens when you have a problem. We have used Sykes on previous occasions and always been happy with the overall experience, but sadly this has not been your usual standard.

Very clean property . Quiet location great scenery
Absolutely stunning views, really lovely lodge, modern, quiet, peaceful, it was the peaceful mini break we needed. However, I think there a few things that need addressing and some have been mentioned in previous reviews. Multiple cracked and chipped glasses, chipped bowls and plates. Only four forks. Pans on the small side when you are cooking a meal. Food in the freezer and cupboards, fire pit parts on the floor in the main part of the lodge, tons of paint etc under where you would have put shoes out the way in the entrance hall. Needs a welcome brochure. We had to trawl around the site searching for the bins, wasnt aware there were towels as they were all under the sinks, realised on the third day, however smelt fusty. Also one thing that has put us off was the attitude of the owners. Through no fault of ours, Sykes declined the payment initially twice and on the third time it went through but had moved the dates by 4 days they would have been able to see the date being booked when it kept rejecting. We were then charged 80 odd pound to change it even though not out error, Sykes waved the admin fee as a good will gesture. But wouldnt cancel the additional rent change that would go to the owners. When I asked for them to speak to the owners and explain the situation we book regularly with Sykes and had only just spent nearly 700 for a weekend a few weeks before, we were told that the owner wanted to increase the cost! Obviously Sykes didnt allow that, but that didnt sit well with us. We were unable to cancel and had to pay it, for that reason alone, we wont return which is such a shame as it was beautiful.
Lovely property and location. Great communication with owner and dealt with any queries we may have had. Will book again and thankyou for a lovely few days away.

We enjoyed our time at Seren Lodge, it was a real treat to stay in such a modern lodge with lovely views over a field of sheep & lambs. Access was good being situated near the entrance of the Caer Beris lodge park. A few small points of improvement needed No information pack in the lodge, we had no idea where to put rubbish and recycling, we did not find any waste disposal points on the wider park also. Would be useful to have Information on things like the nearest supermarket, and local info like the fact most places close SunTues in mid Wales, especially as there is no WiFi and the phone signal is weak. This lodge did not provide basics like hand washing soap at the sinks, and saltpepper in the shakers. Dishwasher not working, I suspect this was because it was empty of salt Rinse aid. There are some spare building materials from when the lodge was built still lying around Fire pit fitting kit on the floor in the dining room, wood offcuts in the wardrobe, half tins of paint in the cloakroom etc. I'm already looking at dates to book for next year, it was a lovely place to stay in a beautiful area.
