Rowan Cottage Reviews

What a beautiful cottage, kitchen fully equipped with everything you could need and more. Added touches throughout made it very homely. Welcome pack was a lovely treat
Michael
The biggest selling point of Rowan Cottage is it's amazing location which was our main reason for booking so that we could enjoy walks around Builth Wells without needing to use the car. Unfortunately we felt that the property could do with a bit of tlc. There were no major issues and we had a fantastic break but a few simple changes would make the property much better. This is the only property we have stayed in that didn't have an information folder with details of local amenities Doctors, Vets, Takeaways etc or instructions for equipment in the property. There was also no guest book to leave comments in, these are always a good source of suggestions for days out and recommended pubs for lunches etc. The kitchen inventory could do with checking. For example, for a property for 4 people there were only 3 teaspoons and yet quite bizarrely 8 egg cups. There were other small things which could be improved for very little expense very small tv, needs an extra coat of gloss paint on the bath panel which would make the property much more attractive. As I've already said, we had an amazing time and would happily return to Rowan Cottage in the future, but just feel it could quite easily and cheaply be made much nicer
It's the perfect spot and we will be back again with our dog in future! We did have some missing towels but on contacting the host directly we had a resolution within the day, Hannah is brilliant!
Vanessa
We had an enjoyable stay in Rowan Cottage. Parking outside was easy, the cottage itself was as described. The bathroom needs blinds putting up as it has two huge windows that face the street and you do feel like youre on show! We draped a throw across one of the windows. The bed was comfy, kitchen well equipped. It took a couple of days for the property to warm through and we needed to keep the living room door open as the thermostat kept turning off as its in the living room but upstairs was then really cold. Had the fire going which was great and helped a lot. Its in a great position for the town, enjoyed our stay. Lots to see and do in the area. Thank you.
Catherine
Rowan cottage is absolutely gorgeous. It was cosy and comfortable. We loved the big second floor bedroom. Very convenient for the town centre. We really felt at home and had a lovely relaxing stay.

We love Rowan Cottage we have stayed before,it has got everything and more that you need for your holiday,it is beautiful inside and outside is a lovely garden to sit and have a drink of wine and relax we will definitely be back always feels home from home thankyou Hannah.
Lovely little cottage, great garden area. Ideal location, close to all amenities in Builth Wells parking also quite easy often with spaces adjacent to cottage. The proximity of the Coop supermarket was an added bonus.
Rowan Cottage was booked at very short notice due to a bereavement in my family. The communications with Hannah were first class and made us feel better knowing we had one less thing to worry about on our rush down to Wales. The property was lovely, it had everything we needed for our short stay and we would definitely stay again if in the area. We had to contact Hannah again at short notice due to a change in our leaving date and again she answered very quickly and was very accommodating and under the circumstances this was gratefully appreciated.
Excellently located and cosy cottage with bonus of suntrap garden for dogs and us! Wellstocked, small but ergonomic kitchen. Sofa looks nice, but not actually that comfy okay for two. Small TV could do with upgrading had aerial issues which were rectified during our stay. Very comfy main bedroom and super bathroom. Lots to do in Builth, even a cinematheatre just a short walk away. Hope to return.
I had a lovely week at Rowan cottage, it's a cosy little cottage with everything you need for a great stay. Ideally base for seeing all the beautiful places in the area. Thank you
Lovely cosy cottage in excellent location and a great price too.
Conveniently situated cottage quiet, comfortable, wellequipped nice welcome pack! and good value.Enjoyed the view to the hills beyond the village from the top bedroom. A beautiful part of Wales with good transport links. Hannah was very friendly and understanding when I needed to communicate about my travel delay.
Lovely little cottage with everything that we needed. Clean, comfortable and great position for the town. Lovely welcome gifts too
Christine
Lovely comfy clean cottage. The bed was really comfortable. Well equipped with everything you needed and more. The welcome gifts were very nice the wine went down a treat. Handy CoOp to rear of property accessed via a path by side the cottage, then just a short stroll to the village center for coffee shops abd food outlets. Had a lovely stay would definitely return. Thanks Christine and Terry from Yorkshire.

We had a lovely week at Rowan cottage thank you so much. Was a perfect central base for adventures around mid Wales. It was very warm the week we went which did make the bedroom like a sauna top floor so would bring a fan next time to help circulate some air. Was also very excited to have been left some Bara Brith too, one of my favourites
Carole
Thank you for the goodies. Much appreciated. excellent cottage comfy bed and sofa. Excellent bathroom shower facilities too. Tv too small poor sound quality. Nb. Bolt came off bathroom door no screws only glued on !! Good kitchen facilities but no teabags provided at least run out for our visit! Garden needs a tidy weedyhedge trimming required so could be a even more lovely place to sit and relax after a day out. We had a lovely walk along the river Wye and at Hay on Wye.
Andrew
One of the best I have stayed in. Clean and comfortable and brilliantly located in the centre of town. Highly recommended.
Clean basic property, beds comfy, everything you would need in the kitchen. Fab coop right behind. Easy walk to the Main Street and lovely cafes. River about 2k walk away lovely walkrun around the park. Garden needs a bit of work but my daughter and myself did yoga and sat in the sun so no big deal. Overall would definitely recommend
Charlotte
We had a fantastic week March 2024 at Rowan Cottage. The cottage was so cosy, warm and delightful to come home to each day. We loved the thoughtful goodie box with chocolate, wine and biscuits. The facilities exceeded our expectations. A wonderful stay.
Lesley
Lovely cottage with well equipped kitchen. A thoughtful welcome hamper of goodies which was really appreciated. Plenty of bedding, towels, dvds and games. We didnt need to leave the cottage which was so comfortable but we did! Managed to keep warm despite 7 degrees outside. Log burner and logs available for use although we were warm enough without lighting this. Cottage situated in a great location for exploring beyond Builth. Would definitely stay again. Only negative was that we couldnt find a visitors book so was not sure what to do with general rubbish.
Everything had been thought about here at Rowan cottage, down to a place to put used teabags and a pen to make notes. Board games too and a good selection of dvd's. Friendly neighbours and a great place to stay in order to visit the beautiful Brecons and beyond. Would happily stay again.
What a lovely surprise awaited us when we arrived, flowers, bread, tea,Welsh cakes, crisps, wine and some chocolate These really made our first night . Thanks Rowan cottage is a comfortable cottage just off the main high street in Builth Wells The cottage had everything we needed, and was very clean and tidy The double bed on the third floor was very comfy we slept very well, on the second floor there are 2 single beds and a lovely bathroom with both a shower and a bath The ground floor is shared with a kitchen and a cosy living room with a log burner which we didnt use as it wasnt cold enough The garden was a great bonus for our dog Plenty of shops on Castle street and pubs think we counted 7 Theres some lovely cafes too we only visited the Cwtch cafe which do a lovely full breakfast for 5.95 if you dont fancy cooking We really enjoyed our stay the only problem was when we first booked we thought we had WiFi as it did state WiFi but elsewhere on the listing it states coming soon which we didnt see It wasnt a problem for us, but was for our son and be aware the phone signal is very patchy depending on your supplier There is on road car parking outside the cottage but we never managed to park there Behind the property is a Co op were you can pay to park over night or theres a free carpark in town The photo of the cottage really doesnt do justice to the quality of the cottage on the inside it really is lovely Im sure well be back as we enjoyed the area so much and thanks for calling us to let us know wed left our dog bed which allowed us to come back to collect it
