Beacons Rest Reviews

From our first phone call to warm welcome along with good show around the studio, we had a very nice impression of how friendly is the host. She has a nice sense of humour Accommodation was picked by us due to great location, being good base for mountain trails access and also other nearby attractions. Small town Brecon is just down the road, so it is very convenient with shops and restaurants in the area. The studio was very peaceful and private. We felt really relaxed leaving, we recharged our batteries which was the main purpose of this trip. Would recommend to consider this rental if you are looking to have a stay with homely feel accommodation.

The owner was lovely and very responsive, ensuring wed a great stay. The property is close to Brecon and has everything youll need. 1010
Good location for exploring the Brecon Beacons. Nice and warm. Cosy and comfortable. Met our needs well.
Caroline
Daphne is a very welcoming host, explaining everything to us on arrival. For a studio flat, Beacon's Rest is incredibly wellequipped. It is homely and cosy we had mixed weather, very peaceful and extremely well thought out. We would definitely recommend!
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and was very comfortable. Daphne was delightful and very helpful.
Philip
We had a lovely relaxing stay. You are provided with everything that you could possible need. We both slept really well. We would definitely recommend to others. Just some useful feedback. The bed could do with a head board to stop pillows falling down the back. Also we were not sure what bins were for what at bottom of stairs bluered big black lid bin could probably write this down somewhere, along with where to leave the key at end of stay ie through your letter box or just leaving it in the door.
Owner gave great introductory tour and instructions on how to operate things. There were also welcoming chocolates and Welsh cakes and his wife baked a loaf for us too. HIghend toiletries gave a sense of what they were seeking to achieve. Sadly, we were only able to stay one night for medical reasons. Only point of caution is that I am 1.93cm tall, moderately built and found the bed too short, and a bit narrow with my wife there too. Otherwise, a great place to stay.

Owner was very helpful, kind and accommodating.
Welcoming clean tidy and well equipped. The freshly baked loaf of bread on arrival was very tasty. Also helpful owners on site.

I booked for 1 week and stayed for 3 weeks with thanks to the charming owners and their cosy studio flat a peaceful haven perfectly placed on the river and near the small town. It might seem a bit quiry to describe the studio as above the garage. It is not used as a garage ,the studio is separate and private with use of the large garden The location is a bird watcherwalker's paradise with reservoirs and nature reserves nearby but plenty of other attractions such as Hay on Wye book town and the busy Abergavenny Market by bus or car. Plus a cinema, theatre, music pubs. Could easily have stayed much longer and hope return again. Must also thank Sykes for making my travels easy to plan with loads of choice over UK at affordable prices.
We were very pleased with everything offered for our use and comfort. And the location was delightful.
We had a great stay and really enjoyed the extra touches from the owners. The home made bread was delicious.
Michael
Ideal bijou studio apartment perfectly placed for the Brecon Beacons with delicious welcome pack and very friendly owners.

This is a lovely, compact getaway in a delightfully quiet location. Ideally placed for a myriad of excellent hiking and for the less energetic, miles and miles of flat canal walks and an array of waterfalls. Plus, of course, all of the tourist attractions the Beacons have to offer useful as a wet weather option at least! The hosts are lovely people, kind, courteous and caring, who really have made sure that everything you need is available. They put many property owners to shame and make guests feel very welcome!

Overall a very nice to stay, very close to Brecon and other places to visit, the studio apartment was very clean and just as described, the hosts were fantastic, the homemade bread was amazing also so we're the Welsh cakes, highly recommended
Enjoyed our stay. Thankyou!!
Carlos
Excellent hosts, beautiful little studio. The homemade bread was delicious! Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a cosy quiet stay near the brecon beacons!
Lots of lovely details and touches.
Robert
Everything one was likely to need was packed into the studio effectively, everything worked, and the location was lovely. However, it's a very cramped space where one has to keep putting up and taking down a folding table. The use of a folddown sofabed would make better use of the space. The hosts are also not great at communication, each saying contradictory things about whether we could charge our electric car or not, and even phoning Sykes to phone us rather than communicating directly about it. We didn't have a problem with either decision about the car charging, only the way it was communicated.
It was a compact studio, as described, and had everything we needed. The owners are pleasant and helpful. It is a lovely area which we were not previously familiar with. There are good walks all around.
Location excellent, cottage clean cozy and comfortable. Home made loaf of bread was a lovely gesture.
Michael
Extremely helpful owners.
Lovely little apartment, very nice hosts. Had everything I needed. Would definitely return, its in a nice spot with plenty of places so nearby to explore. Lovely river walk into Brecon.
Lovely location with lots to do nearby and beautiful scenery. The room was well furnished and was well kitted out. It was very comfy and clean. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience .
Well equipped and spotlessly clean accommodation, a thoughtful welcome pack and a beautiful, tranquil location. Beacons Rest is a good base for exploring the Brecon Beacons we particularly enjoyed walks around Talybont and Talgarth. The accommodation is situated by a pretty stretch of the River Usk with a scenic walk into Brecon. A very relaxing way to spend a few days and we hope to return.
Care has been taken to make the outside slip proof, however in wetfrosty weather the wooden steps remain a hazard.
A wonderful cottage, in a lovely little village, with the town a two minute drive away and walks on the doorstep. Mr & Mrs McBrearty were so accommodating, and we loved the freshly baked bread!
Jennifer
Very peaceful place and the weather was beautiful for February. The only downside for me was the flies lots of them in the room because it's in the countryside.
Michael
Beacons Rest is a delightful bijou studio apartment. It is ideally situated to explore the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. There are some excellent walks that can be done from Beacons Rest. These start with a lovely riverside path which leads to the town of Brecon. My favourite was the ascent of Pen y Crug. The view from the summit of Brecon and the Pen y Fan range with half a dozen red kites and a couple of buzzards soaring overhead was marvellous. A walk description is in the apartment, although this can be considerably shortened by doing the walk direct from Brecon. Beacons Rest is very well equipped and sunbathing on the balcony, even in September, with the beautiful views and sightings of rabbits, squirrels, red kites, buzzards and ravens was very relaxing. The owners were most welcoming and presented me with a delicious loaf of newly baked bread on my arrival. The narrow access road is rarely a problem, because very little traffic uses it. Provisions can be obtained from Morrisons or the Cooperative in Brecon. I enjoyed my holiday at Beacons Rest so much, that I have already booked for September 2019!
The studio was small but very well equipped. The small balcony was lovely to sit in the evening very quiet and peaceful. Pity about the weather.
Michael
Excellent property, good location fot walks etc. Spotless accomodation with a lovely welcome pack.
Beacons Rest is set in a very quiet and peaceful location, down a single track lane about 2 miles from Brecon town, the property is light and airy, small and compact and is an ideal location to make a base to explore the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding area for a couple, on their own. The Owners of the property are really lovely, we were left, Milk, Butter, fresh fruit and a local Brecon newspaper also some delicious home made honey bread, really lush, nice touch!! Nothing seemed to much trouble. Would we return to Beacons Rest again?? well as a rule we only tour an area once then move on, but Yes we would certainly be very happy to stay there again if ever we happened to revisit the area again.
Tracey
Beautiful location . Property has everything you need. Owners friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to eat in Brecon town and parking was always available. Lots of things to do ,would recommend the Red kite feeding, four waterfalls walk and canal taff trail. Had a lovely holiday.
I had a most enjoyable and peaceful stay. Thoughtful little extras were provided and the bed was very comfortable!
Beacons Rest is in a beautiful part of Wales with lovely landscape and scenery and plenty of walks right on the doorstep. The owners went over and above to welcome us to their property, which is an annex to their house, sited above their garage and accessed by some outside steps at the rear. This was fine for us but would not be very suitable for anyone with mobility problems, who struggles with stairs. On arrival we were given a freshly baked home made loaf which was really tasty. There was fresh milk, tea bags, etc in the room and everything was extremely clean. The bed was comfortable with lovely cotton sheets, there were beautiful thick towels, even the loo rolls and kitchen roll were of top quality. The room is a studio with a small 2 hob electric cooker and an all in one microwaveovengrill, which we did use to cook with although cooking space was limited. Wifi signal was limited, however the owners could overcome this with an extender. Overall we had a lovely peaceful and tranquil few days at this property and would definitely recommend it.
Comfortable and more than adequate for a short stay. Very relaxing ambience.
Beacon's Rest was good in every way frendly and welcoming owners, good facilities, comfortable and with everything one would need during a stay. Kitchen facilities good no oven but twin microwavegrill covered all types for cooking. Fridge freezer allowed food to be bought and kept or frozen until needed. The location was great for visiting places within the National Park and further afield South Wales including Cardiff. Brecon itself is right on the doorstep with ample car parking and three supermarkets. Location itself on the edge of the river on a 'no through road' meant it was extremely quiet and peaceful. TV worked fine during my stay the Olympics were on and I was able to watch all I wanted. I would certainly recommend Beacon's Rest to anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing break amidst lovely scenery.
