The Old Mill Reviews

Owners very helpful and responds to any questions , cottage is beautiful and lovely setting, hot tub for teenagers was a big hit, this would be 5 star , but was missing some basics, 1 tea towel for 7 people over 3 nights was not adequate , no soap in one bathroom , and the knives were not sharp enough to prepare food properly , these are easy things to rectify and would not stop us recommending it or going again , the space and layout is very well suited to a big group, and had a fabulous time !
Joanne
A lovely property in a beautiful setting.
A great house with lots of kitchen utensils, everything you would need. Perfect location to go off exploring and walking. Peaceful location. The hot tub is a great bonus. We would stay again.
Elizabeth
We had the most wonderful stay at the old mill. The house is beautifully presented, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect for local walks. The little stream made this for my children who enjoyed it more than the fabulous hot tub ! Highly recommend. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Lovely old cottagemill with lots of character.
Overall good and satisfactory. Huge property with many bedrooms. Clean and tidy. David and Heather both were helpful and very nice people. Lovely location and great view. WiFi signal strength and quality or speed not decent. No shampoo or handwashing liquid or soap provided. The kitchen tap was defective. Not an easy to deal with barbecue and small for family.
Sabrina
We stayed there for two nights. Absolutely amazing area, very quiet and chilly. Loved the hot tub and enjoyed every minute of it. My partner proposed to me in this cabin so it will remain in our souls forever. The place is amazing, very rustic with everything inside, you dont need to bring anything. It was a bit chilly inside but so it was outside so it makes sense. We will definitely return here probs in out honeymoon, absolutely amazing landlords going above and beyond. I dont have enough words to recommend it.
The property is stunning. It is well maintained and had everything we needed. The only suggestion I can make is that possibly the slate steps could do with a power wash or grit to be provided. As over time they have become slippery once wet. Our host were very kind and accommodating. We can not wait to return.
Great place to stay. This was are 2nd time staying here and we will certainly be back.
Had a smashing time, very gracious hosts!

The property was not at all as described . I asked for enclosed garden once booked it said check boundaries !! The garden was no way enclosed and open to a main road and fields open at the side. The cooker was filthy no heating . The hot tub didnt work and wasnt particularly clean and amenities ie pubs and town were mainly closed due to the financial crisis. Struggled to do anything really . The mill itself was a lovely setting but not a true description of what we thought was going to be a nice break
The Old Mill was just as described in Sykes write up. We were disappointed with a few things though. There was thick dust noticeable on mirrors, tops of taps, window sills, cooker hood and general surfaces. The oven was filthy which we cleaned as best we could before we used it. The kitchen floor was sticky so we mopped it. Flies were a problem and we were constantly using fly spray to keep the population down, maybe an electronic fly killer would be a long term solution. I know in the countryside fly's can be a problem but solutions are available to combat the issue. The wifi was very patchy and dropped out alot. The hot tub was welcoming but only half the jets were working, so not as good as it could have been. This is a lovely place to stay, central to many visitor attractions. We would return to the Old Mill but if we found any issues we would inform the owner straight away which we didn't this time.

Had a wonderful stay at The Old Mill, the house was absolutely beautiful. The garden and stream were perfect for the dogs and children and the hot tub was exactly what everybody needed after a long day exploring. The house was extremely well equipped with everything you needed in the kitchen and games and DVDs. The only negatives were the loud floors, which made sneaking around the childrens rooms difficult without waking them. The broadband was slow and unreliable although it was a welcome break from technology the kitchen could have done with some more children's plates and cutlery. All of this was very minor however, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely stay at The Old Mill. Had all the comforts of home and the barn itself was set out nicely. Peaceful and quiet area with beautiful walks and a lovely stream at the end of the garden where the kids enjoyed playing. The downside was that there is absolutely no phone signal and the wifi didnt work so we had a bit of an issue in that regard. We were offered the neighbours wifi but that didnt work too. The highlight was the hot tub. Nice that its under cover so that it can used even if the weather is bad. Lots of towels and bed linen provided which was great. Kids enjoyed the board games. David, the owner was very welcoming and stopped by to check in on us. Lovely host. We wont hesitate to go back again.
Enjoyed our stay at the old mill, lovely place, set out nicely, very peaceful, hot tub a delight, kids really enjoyed this, used every day. Owners very nice and helpful, WiFi not working, but not a problem for us, kid's at a loss without broadband, scenery lovely, isolated spot, very peaceful, ideal getaways enjoy a a peaceful holiday. Thank you..
Michelle
Amazing stay at the old mill. Beautiful property situated in stunning countryside! Plenty of space, Hot tub was amazing! Very relaxing!
Wonderful holiday owner was quick to help with anything we had an issue with very helpful, cottage had everything we needed and more felt very homely. Neighbour was very kind and informative. 5 stars
A lovely property in a lovely area. Walks right from the door step, hot tub was brilliant and really like the fact it is under cover. We have been to many hot tubs and they have never been under cover. Bed really comfy and everything you need is inside the property. We will definitely be booking The Old Mill again . Thank you it was perfect.

We was a bit disappointed as the cottage did not seem big enough for 8 people 1 of the double beds we would class as 3 quarter bed itinerary kitchen sheet a lot of items missing we had to buy yorkshire pudding tin and tea towels as only one supplied and had to buy 2 small sharp knifes as all missing out of knife block informed host on phone but no action taken we did not meet hosts and no welcome pack so had to go straight out for bread and Milk 8 miles away also a lot of crockery chipped plus side great hot tub and grounds we would not rebook this cottage for 8 people
Gorgeous property. Spacious and homely with a fantastic garden. Facilities were super. Had an amazing stay here
The Old Mill was a lovely, comfortable home from home. It was well equipped, the hot tub was really relaxing and the surrounding area was stunning. The area is quite remote, the nearest shop is around 15 minutes drive and any attractions are from 30 minutes to 2 hour drives. The only downside to this property is the internet is very slow and drops out alot. Even though we only used it to check opening times and best directions to places to visit as we found that the leaflets for these places that were left in the cottage were out of date and had changed alot it did cause some issues. Other than that, lovely place to visit.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful ! If you are from a countryfarming background or you dont mind the noises of farm animals I 100 recommend staying here ! Stunning walks some right on the doorstep ! The cottage was just fantastic ! A lot bigger in person and much more rewarding to see in person ! Thank you for having us !
Great place for a rest
Fantastic cottage with great facilities making it a home from home. The hot tub made it for us as we all went in every day when we got back from walks or visiting local towns. The owners were easily contactable and accommodating we had a power cut for 5 hours on our last day due to storm Eunice and they brought us a supply of candles.
We had an absolutely amazing time. First holiday together in 5 years and what an amazing place to stay. Would highly recommend The Old Mill.
I would have given a 10 out of 10 if could have had a later checkout. ..10am was quite early. Other than fantastic place.
Fantastic property, really lovely hosts , really loved it , will return . All Round brilliant
The house was lovely, plenty of room for all of us, very comfortable and had everything we needed. Hot tub was lovely after long walks. Location very rural and quiet with a large safe garden for the dogs to run. Would highly recommend this property.
Elaine
Only marked down on accuracy of the listing as advertised as an enclosed garden and that that the property had a bar b que.
The Old Mill really had the wow factor, with an amazing interior and stunning views from the hot tub too. The surrounding area was well documented in the welcome packs, describing local walks and how the Old Mill came to be too. Thank you for being a brilliant place for our post lockdown escape!
I had visited the Old mill previously with a group of friends and wanted to bring my family back to the accommodation as i had had such a lovely experience. It was another resounding success and an experience that we all enjoyed together. The property was comfortable and stylish with everything that we needed as a family. We embraced the beautiful country walks and of course, the hot tub! It gave us the opportunity to spend quality time and recharge our batteries. I would definitely recommend this property to others. The owners are only ever a phonecall away and very happy to help in any way they can.
Ceinwen
Very clean, lovely house. Kids and adults loved the hot tub. Great amenities. WiFi not great upstairs but didn't spoil the stay.
Had an amazing stay only thing we had issues with was the beds were not that comfy. Also had a few issues with the hot tub however they sorted it promptly and even gave us a nice bottle of Mot to compensate. Would definitely stay here again.
Amazing property with great scenery. Owner was very pleasant and communication was excellent. Would absolutely recommend
Hi was a beautiful cottage had a great stay. Everything we hoped for, Elan valley a must to visit. A couple of things needed some oven gloves. Barbeque needs updating was more of a fire bucket? Could do with a lock on the downstairs toilet. Only minor things.
The garden is bigger than it looks , dogs loved the river and walks while we ... The garden is bigger than it looks , dogs loved the river and walks while we enjoyed the hot tub, would recommend this cottage
Graham
Great base for a holiday. Plenty of walks, waterfalls, reservoirs and places to visit. House was very Covid secure, all very clean including the hot tub. Everything you could need was included in this lovingly converted old mill. All photos accurately represent what you get in the property. Friendly owners who are on hand and service the hot tub daily very early in the morning!.
Joanna
David the owner was fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble and the house has everything we needed for us and the children! Would definitely stay again!
Gareth
Superb location, stunning cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thankyou.
We had a wonderful weekend away at the Old Mill. The accommodation was easy to find, with plenty of parking and in a quiet location. The layout of the property suited our needs perfectly. It was spacious, clean and warm. The furnishings were comfortable and we settled in well. The hot tub was a welcome treat and everyone benefitted from the relaxation it provided. Having it undercover facilitated its use, especially during the cold, crisp evenings. The owners were both accessible, friendly and very approachable. We have created many fabulous memories and would definitely recommend as well as return to the property.
