The River Wye runs straight through the estate, putting you yards from the riverbank. This former home of painter and fisherman H.W.B. Davies sits 3.5 miles from Rhayader and 7 miles from Llandrindod Wells.

The estate offers private fly fishing for salmon, trout and grayling at £20 per rod per week. Walk the old railway track along the river or explore the Elan Valley dams. Red kites circle overhead and otters patrol the Wye.

We had a lovely long bank holiday weekend staying at Gardeners Cottage. The weather was perfect hottest day in May on record! which certainly made it even more idyllic. The river on the doorstep is perfect allowing us to fish and let the dogs cool off. We sat in the garden and enjoyed watching the many birds. Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating when ever we asked questions. We will definitely be coming back!

Gardeners Cottage is in a stunning location. The garden was just bursting into life, we so enjoyed watching the many birds feeding from the birdhouse. A great garden if you have a dog as it is enclosed and safe. Nearby walks were lovely and we saw deer. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable.The kitchen however lacked all of the usual condiments,salt, pepper etc. Also no foil, clingfilm and that kind of thing,so you really need to take everything like this with you. A welcome pack would have been appreciated. A washing machine would have been useful but to be fair it wasn't listed as having one. An enjoyable stay .

We really enjoyed the stay here, very peaceful and relaxing. We met the host walking his dog, and he gave us good visiting tips which we followed. The accommodation was better than the pictures showed

We had a great stay at Gardeners Cottage. Jonathan and Chee are very friendly hosts and have an amazing piece of land. The estate and river was amazing as well as the local area. We really hope to come back.

A great week with the family. The secure garden for our dogs and my small granddaughter was perfect and the cottage was comfortable with everything we needed. Wonderful spot and walks by the river. The owner was really welcoming and helpful and we even had fresh vegetables and fruit from his vegetable garden. Perfect holiday destination!

Excellent cottage. Very clean with a high standard of kitchen equipment and fridgefreezer. We found the owner friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The property is on the Glaslyn country estate and entry is through the Glaslyn gates. The estate is peaceful with some pleasant walks. Nearby is the Elan valley with loads of walks and cycle paths and a visitor centre with a cafe. We had a lovely holiday.

This cottage is in a beautiful setting, loved watching the birds. It was so lovely and peaceful and picturesque. We found some superb walks too around the nearby Dams. The Cottage has everything you need, including a beautiful enclosed garden. Really appreciated the fan as well, as it did get rather hot towards the latter end of the week. Would definitely like to come back.

This is a great place if you like walking as its an ideal central position to plan where you want to walk next. Plenty of places to visit red kite feeding for one and elan valley itself. If you wish to go further afield you are not far from Brecon a beautiful town.

Second visit to this beautiful location but first stay in Gardeners Cottage which was clean, well equipped and complete with beautifully kept garden and grounds. Our reason for visiting this cottage is to take advantage of fly fishing on the beautiful river which runs alongside the cottages. The owners are friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. We would highly recommend a stay and plan a third visit soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gardeners cottage. It was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. A lovely cottage in the most beautiful surroundings. Gardens are well maintained and full of flowers. The railway walk, although not long, was lovely to have an early morning or late evening walk with the dogs. It runs along the river which was stunning. The owners were on hand if needed and were helpful and friendly. The nature reserve and Elan dams are close by and we had some lovely walks there. I would highly recommend Gardeners cottage as it really is a stunning place to unwind.

Gardeners cottage was very clean and pleasantly presented, the hosts Jonnathon & Chee were very helpfull, the weather was not good heavy rain which spoilt the fishing on the lovely River Wye. Apart from that we had a great time and will defiantly go back and hope for better weather. Thank you.

We are a couple in our sixties, my daughter and my 8 year old grandson was with us. Can honestly say we all, including my grandson, was taken aback at how beautiful this place was, right on the river with lots of wild land to roam in, beautifully kept gardens and never seen so many little birds such a joy to watch. Lots of kites the feather kind ! so sitting with morning cups of tea watching the wildlife and the brilliance of the place set us up for the day. We all loved it and just didnt want to come home! It was perfect for our dog, all the areas are fenced and thought is taken with keeping our pets safe. The house was clean, well equipped and very comfy ! We went to the Dams over the mountain road, hold onto your seats but well worth it, Devils bridge also a must, the local town perfect, and the kite feeding. Whilst the WiFi worked there were some moments it wasnt too good, but this was everywhere in these mountains, We did have to drive into town to the car park, and park at the top of the car park as I had a very important phone call coming in, but even that wasnt a big deal as we walked around the local shops and enjoyed our morning All in all perfect break in the gardeners cottage and we hope to go back, definitely recommend. A beautiful and idyllic cottage with a lovely, though short, riverside walk on the property. The gardens are wonderfully maintained and really added to the experience of staying here.

We had a wonderful holiday staying in Gardeners Cottage and would highly recommend it. The grounds are lovely to walk in especially with your dog along the old rail track and by the river and all on your door step. The owners were charming ,welcoming & helpful. We hope to go back again soon.

Specious comfortable bed beautiful front garden excellent river view from the bedroom windows nice location . Close to Fuel station and Greggs. friendly Host Jonathan the only downside was the level of cleanness spider webs and bread crumbs found on the shelf so I would suggest to clean it more thoroughly specially the kitchen shelf dust on kitchen top accessories and microwave not so clean as expected. Other than this everything else was spectacular.

The cottage was lovely in a fantastic location, the beds were comfortable and the shower was really good, could do with an extractor fan as noticed paint was coming away from ceiling. The rest of the furniture was very tired and the fridge was too small for five people we were only three and only just managed to get things in. Only minor things which can be rectified. But we had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back, dogs loved it. Jonathan and cheese lovely hosts.

Lovely holiday cottage. Wellequipped, spacious, gorgeous location and good for a base to walkride around the local area. There is even a trail leading from the cottage grounds. No wifi which meant we could switch off completely for a week!

The best points of this holiday are the location of the property on the banks of the river Wye, the local area of the Elan Valley and the friendliness of the owners.

If you want a quiet, tranquil, peaceful, holiday, in a nice cosy cottage, with a very secure enclosed garden. Safe for children and dogs You will not get better than this hideaway in Llanwrthwl. Mobile phone signal almost none existence so no constant phone calls. Can highly recommend. I Wathan, Anglesey.

We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the Cottage, much larger and nicer than the photos give away, absolutely stunning setting with the Wye running through the Gardens. Very friendly and welcoming owners and staff, couldnt ask for more at a reasonable price. A good base to travel from for days out. If I was to criticise anything, it could do with larger towels and a better shower, but thats not to say it was a problem, just a suggestion.

Although the weather was in our favour the cottage was well equipped if it hadn't been. There was heating and a fire if it got chilly, a television should you need it and although we took games and books we didn't need either. All cottages have access to the river should you wish to fish or just walk. We stayed at gardners cottage which had access to a front garden whereas riverside cottage had access to the back garden both very pretty with seating outside. There are two other cottage like chalets with the same amenities, called salmon and trout. I could have stayed in any, they all looked well presented, My only suggestion would be for lighter duvets in the summer months as the sloping roof meant it got fairly warm in the bedrooms at night. We found the whole holiday totally relaxing and the owners Jonathan and Chee and their dog Freddie very welcoming. We would most definitely return but next time I will be more aware that the welsh midges wear boots as big as the Scottish ones.

If looking for peace , quiet, and tranquility, in wonderfully peacefully surroundings . You could not find better, than Glaslyn. The owners are very welcoming, kind, and helpful. Will certainly go there again....I.M.Wathan
