Nuthatch Cottage at Riverside Lodge Reviews

Jacqui
This cottage is in the perfect position for the dams with the best outlook over the river. Loved feeding and watching birds nut hatches, tits and sparrows but also seeing the greater spotted woodpecker every morning was fun! Although the cottage was on the road it was quiet and unobtrusive. There is a lovely walk for the dog just a moment away. Loved this cottage and owners are friendly but allow you privacy.
Had a 4 night stay over New Year. Cottage is very cosy and comfortable and in a beautuful location overlooking river. Bird watchers dream, so so many on the bird feeders, was lovely and mesmerising. Kitchen is well stocked with plenty of utensils, crockery, pots and pans etc. Had a lovely welcome hamper, very appreciated. Toiletries provided, as is hairdryer. Communication with Gillian fabulous, information provided promptly. Lovely designated walk along path into Rhayadar. Would definitely recommend for a stay.
Channa
Lovely place and lovely host. Very helpful and was attentive to our requests. Convenient location for us and what we had planned as we could visit almost anywhere in Wales within max of 2 hours. Very clean and cosy lodge with a well equipped kitchen. We loved it and will recommend anytime.
Beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Love watching the birds in the garden. The squirrels in the trees. The beds are comfortable. Love the welcome pack.
Michael
We had a wonderful week at Nuthatch Cottage. Very clean with all the amenities and comfort needed . We recommend this Cottage if you want a nice quiet holiday with close access to Elan Valley and beyond .special thanks to the owners Gill and Barry who made us very welcome . we liked everything about this Cottage we have re booked for next year, Michael...Lorraine and Martin from Wolverhampton
Judith
What a lovely cottage in a lovely quiet picturesque location. Gill was fab, even bringing us weighing scales when I wanted to bake a cake, I believe she is leaving them there for future guests. Our only issues, one bathroom had no radiator and was chilly all the time, the other concern being the furniture, for the average people it would be absolutely fine as it's comfy enough but leather type sofa is very low and difficult for disabled person to get out of. This cottage is great for ambulant disabled who can manage one step, the cottage is all on one level inside. The river is lovely to watch and the birds flock the garden regularly, even saw the nuthatch. Despite the sofa we plan to be back at some point with our friends.
Denise
Nuthatch was peaceful had everything you need. .Gill was lovely. Clean and close to the Elan valley which we wanted. An hour from Aberystwyth and 20 mins to Llandrindod wells.
Very well appointed with many of the little things thoughtfully provided. Excellent peaceful location close to the Elan Valley and other areas of interest. Bird feeders etc at the back of the property provided endless enjoyable entertainment. A very pleasant place to spend a few days together with friends.
It's a lovely cottage. The view and bird life were amazing. Would definitely stay there again.
Michael
Found the description misleading as it sounded as there was access to the river from the cottage which was not the case. Access was gained after walking down a cycle path and through a farmers uncut field . As I am disabled I struggled to cope which spoiled the enjoyment.
Sharon
Property was difficult to locate as the directions provided were from opposite direction. Also picture provided was of rear of property, so, when looking for the property, at 10.30 in the dark, it was a challenge and mobile reception on that road was poor, so we couldnt easily get information up about the property. Im sure this can be put right with what3words. Disappointingly, the water pressure for showering was the worse Id ever encountered. Worse than my caravan!! We didnt use the cooking facilities or use the lounge as we were out for 14 hours each day. But everything else was lovely. Thank you.
Elisabeth
A comfortable property with everything you need for a holiday. The garden view down to the river and across fields was lovely....and the birds, amazing.
Nicola
What a wonderful place Nuthatch Cottage is. Gill the owner, is a fantastic host and nothing was too much trouble for her. She made stretchered was a welcome hamper for us, which was much appreciated. The place is so peaceful and the scenery is stunning with plenty of places to visit close by. We intend to come back again we loved it so much.
Beverley
Wonderful property with lovely views onto river and all the surrounding wildlife. Property was really clean and well maintained, had everything you could wish for. Will definitely be visiting again.
Great cottage for watching wildlife and walking
Catherine
Lovely property, garden smaller than thought but excellent location plenty of walks starting from the property. A generous welcome basket and very much appreciated. The three each double bedrooms were spacious extra light cord conveniently situated above head And great that all three bedrooms were ensuite Beautiful picture window in living room would definitely recommend this property
We chose this property as we need accessible accommodation for my mum. The views on the listing also appealed. There are indeed beautiful views from the back of the bungalow. There is a main road directly in front so the front bedrooms get some road noise & headlights at night. The owners control the heating timer, we arrived on a chilly afternoon but the heating wasnt due to come on until the evening so we had to ask the owner to put the heating on. Although there is a wood burner it only heats the lounge diner.Never had this with a holiday let before. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay, well equipped accommodation.and a cosy feel.
This property is maintained to a very high standard. It was a delightful cottage, very comfortable, perfectly equipped and with cosy furnishings. To the front of Nuthatch there are the splendid walks that go all along the valley, and to the rear, the breathtaking views of the river framed by hills.I would recommend this cottage to anyone with complete confidence that they'd enjoy their stay!
We highly recommend this accommodation sitting on the patio looking at the river watching the birds eating from the feeders was so peaceful. The owners did I everything to make it home from home they ensured we had everything we needed little touches such as washing up liquid dishwasher tabs, washing machine liquid to name but a few. The welcome pack was much appreciated
Philip
Lovely accommodation and the Elan Valley is great. While I was there, Storm Darragh arrived!!! The owners were very helpful and extremely obliging.
Had an amazing peaceful holiday. The cottage felt very homely. Loved the views, watching the birds in the garden. Owners were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be coming back.
Charlie
Fantastic cottage. All the little details taken care of and a lovely welcome package thank you. Great location for walking and exploring the beautiful Elan Valley.
A lovely place to stay in an ideal location. Had a relaxing stay at Nuthatch Cottage and enjoyed the cosy and homely ambience. A delicious welcome basket filled with local produce had been left which was very much appreciated and gave us a delicious Sunday morning cooked breakfast. The cottage was thoughtfully equipped with lot of extras you don't normally find in a rental property. We spent a lot of time watching the wide range of birds visiting the well stocked bird feeders. Would stay again.
Nuthatch cottage is a lovely comfortable, clean & well kept accommodation with hosts that go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. On arrival, we were greeted with a very nice & thoughtful welcome pack. With walks right from the property you don't have to drive everyday to explore the area. The large variety of birds on the feeders kept us well entertained whilst relaxing in the garden after coming back from our explorations of this wonderful area. worthwhile taking some nuts & seed as feeders run out very quickly We & our springer spaniel Dexter really enjoyed our stay here, so much so we will most definitely going back next year. Until then, thank you Gillian & Barry for a wonderful vacation.
Hermione
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely accommodation in a perfect location overlooking a river. Very comfortable and clean, and the host has considered every detail for a pleasant stay. We found it to be very wellequipped and enjoyed a lovely welcome pack. We especially loved watching the birds visiting the feeders, binoculars and bird identification books were supplied!
We had a lovely stay at nuthatch and enjoyed the walks from the house. Rhayder is a lovely town with a great coffee shops, restaurants.
We really enjoyed our stay at nuthatch cottage, the cottage was clean and cosy. We enjoyed the extra's provided the water cooler, the cosy fireplace, the well stocked bathrooms and the fabulous service provided by Gill and Barry who were ready to help with any enquiries. The garden is small but an incredible bird haven we loved watching the pretty tiny birds pecking at the bird feeder and were fascinated by the chicks in the nest being fed by their mother. The views to the lake behind were enjoyed whilst eating our meals. Thank you for giving us a relaxing holiday, Alexander, Sarah and family
