Teacher's Cottage Reviews

Rebecca
A sweet cottage with a lovely wood burner. The local village, Presteigne was super cute as well. Kitchen was well equipped and towels lovely and fluffy. Mattress's were comfortable too. Parking suitable for a small car otherwise on street parking. Owner super helpful and contactable though instructions are clear and straightforward on key pickup etc.
This is a pretty cottage, it was easy to heat once we got the electric heating working, There was a basket of wood for the wood burner, which we were asked to replace, at a local wood yard at 10. Kitchen equipment was easy to use, a pint of milk would have been nice but there was no welcome pack. Beds were comfortable, shower was fine and nice thick towels no soap provided so make sure you take all toiletries. The house was clean but previous quests had not placed their recycling in the appropriate boxes and bins in the yard of the property, and this had not been dealt with by the person cleaning the house prior to our stay, so we did it all. The really disappointing thing was the lack of information about parking, there was nothing in the email information sent over by Sykes. We arrived late due to a delay in our journey, it was dark, wet and we struggled to understand where the parking was as the cottages are right on the road. We asked a neighbour where we could park and were told there was room for a small car, which we tried but could not fit into. Later, when we got into the cottage we read Information pack provided, but this information needed to be available before we arrived. The space is realistically suited for a microcar e.g., a smart car, so if you have anything bigger we have a Nissan Juke then be prepared to park on the road. The cottage was okay, but due to the parking we would not consider returning there. Also the cottage advertised as Presteigne was a few miles from the town, which I did not realise, so I would look more carefully when booking a cottage with Sykes, as some information is not presented in a clear way, such as the parking information.

This is a very cute cottage in a historic row with nice neighbours who share the outside space yard and steep garden. It's a wonderful location for walking feels quite out of the way and very peaceful. Great for birdlife too. My grown up daughter and I did two lovely circular walks from our doorstep, both along parts of Offa's Dyke one to Knighton, the other to Presteigne. We also walked on Hergest Ridge from Kington, and had a day visiting Ludlow and Stokesey Court. Norton itself is very quiet with no amenities, but we loved Presteigne and ate and drank there more than once you can walk back from the pub over the fields in 40 minutes if you like. My only slight disappointment which I should have been more aware of is that the cottage really is tiny. This means the living room sofa has to be small too, there's no other comfy chair and the bedrooms upstairs feel rather on top of one another one single, one double. For a feeling of space, I would have loved to sit on a bench out the front andor back occasionally though there was no access from the front for some reason. But the kitchen facilities, TV, books etc made us feel at home and we had a lovely week.

Lovely little property. Especially enjoyed the effective log burner on some cold wet days. Quirky stairs may be a problem for less mobile. Friendly helpful neighbours. Just nitpicking not many logs available but we did add and replace, no complimentary slippers as promised on welcome sheet to support no shoes policy and log burner not cleaned out but location and otherwise very good standard means I would visit again.

Apart from a misunderstanding of dogs needing to be kept on leads in the garden hopefully this didnt cause to much upset with the neighbours, It was a lovely stay, lovely cottage in a beautiful part of Wales.
Fabulous short break at Teachers Cottage with my husband and black Labrador. Finding the key was tricky, but a few phonecalls and a lovely neighbour helped, as it hadn't been left. The cottage has everything you could wish for. We loved the wood burning stove and took a few trips to the 24 hour drive through to purchase logs. The garden is quirky, with a few wooden steps and a narrow walkway to various sections. A bit tricky having had a back operation and I only ventured up there once. We walked our dog down the lane and found many paths. The chickens provided fresh eggs. A quiet relaxing break. Would definitely recommend. Local to Norton is Presteigne, and this has fantastic shops and history. Explored Offa's Dyke, Water BreakItsNeck and took a train trip to Llandovery. The weather was amazing which always helps. Thanks for an amazing break.

Stayed in half term with husband and daughter. As a teacher it was fun to stay in Teacher's cottage! Enjoyed the history of the area and the cottages themselves. Well appointed and comfy cottage, daughter lived the rocking chair! Parking very tight for a big car but this was explained in the property details. We just unloaded and then parked in the bus stop layby there was always space there. Friendly neighbours had no problems with us bringing the car up to reload at the end of the week. Enjoyed National Trust properties in the area and visiting HayonWye. Lovely food from The Banc in Knighton and The Radnorshire Arms in Presteigne. Would recommend both. A lovely stay, thank you.

I stayed here for three nights with my Mum and greyhound for our annual prechristmas trip and we loved it! The cottage is beautiful, and has everything you need for that home from home feeling. I especially loved the under floor heating in the kitchen, and so did the dog! The location is great for exploring the area, had a fabulous trip up the the Elan Valley once the storm cleared. The one thing I feel compelled to mention is the garden. I wasn't fully aware that the garden was raised up some steps, I think the description says slope. It was only an issue for me as my greyhound struggles with steep steps and he couldn't get up to the garden. Just maybe something for dog owners to be made more aware of, but only minor and not worth deducting any stars for!
A lovely, wellappointed cottage. It was spotless and we were pleasantly surprised to find tea, coffee, milk as well as tea towels etc. Would certainly recommend.
Lindsey
A perfect little cottage. Arrival instructions were clear and everything was spotlessly clean on arrival. The cottage was well equipped and cosy. We loved the log burner and walks straight from the door. There is plenty to see and do in the area and shops a short drive away.
