Cedar Cottage is a semi-detached barn conversion set within the grounds of a former grinding mill in mid-Wales, Powys. The setting is genuinely remote and the scenery in every direction is stunning. Hosts Lorraine and Frank are on hand without being intrusive guests consistently praise their warmth and local knowledge. No hot tub here, but the surroundings more than compensate.

This is proper countryside. Rolling hills, open skies and very little noise. It suits people who want to properly switch off. The grounds include chickens and a dog called Benji part of the appeal for many guests.

Mid-Wales offers real variety nearby. The Hafren Forest (approx 8 miles, 15 mins) is excellent for walking. Llanidloes town centre (approx 6 miles, 12 mins) has independent shops and cafés. Rhayader (approx 14 miles, 25 mins) is the gateway to the Elan Valley reservoirs. The Red Kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm near Rhayader (approx 15 miles, 28 mins) is unmissable.
